I'm glad he went to LA, i know he likes theatre but right now broadway is tough for non musical actors (and even he can dance, singing is not his strong point). In LA he'll get a lot more oportunities, it's a hard road, but Van has the talent to do it (he only needs a little luck)

OMG, that would be so awesome! Doubt it'll happen, but one can still dream, right? I heard Luke was considered for a role on DAYS, but somehow that didn't happen.. I heard the writers decided to drop the potential character, probably because of the small budget they have to work with. They had to take a cut when Days was in trouble, before it started gaining viewers again. They probably didn't have enough money to pay for another regular cast member. Anyway, I know Van said he prefer primetime. And he has a shot at that since he moved to LA. Seeing him in a primetine show would be amazing, but ANY role would be fine with me. I just miss seeing him, so Occupant should be good. Also, another soap role would be fine with me, but I would be over the moon if he got his wish to be a part of a primetime show. But for pure selfish reasons, I'd be happy with everything as long as I got so see him back on my screen again. That even means a straight role, though I prefer him in a gay role again..

I miss him a lot, at least Jake is giving us news almost every day, but i understand Van for wanting a low profile till he has something to tell. I think he is too good for the writing quality of soaps, and i want him to land a prime time role, but a soap role won't be that bad, because he is in LA now, so a soap role (if he get the same conditions that his contract in ATWT) would allow him to audinioning for other roles. My only problem is that i'm not that interested in soaps, i only watch the gay storylines. I don't think Van has any concern of being typecast (i remember an straight actor saying about his numerous gay roles that he has any concern about that, because all were different) he play gay on theatre before, and i agree with the article, if any soap want to do a gay storyline Van probably will be the priority to hire, because he is a really good actor, and a big fan base. And with his age, even if he is hired for a gay role in a soap, i'm pretty sure it would be very different from Luke

Yeah.. I think I know of another reason why he would want to keep his life private.
I agree. I think Van is too good for soaps, but like I said.. For pure selfish reasons I wouldn't mind seeing him on a soap again, if it's a good role and if he gets plenty of screen time. He deserves that, because he's a good actor. I do wish he gets a role on a primetime show though, but that is difficult and it make take some time before he lands one. I do hope we get to see him on primetime eventually though. And like I said, I don't even care if it's a straight role, though he would be AMAZING in a gay role. And yeah, I do prefer seeing him as gay. But then again.. I can probably overlook the straight part if he gets a straight role, I'd just be happy as long as I get to see him on my screen again.

I think he won't hesitate on a gay role on a prime time show, but i'm not so sure about a gay role on daytime. I remember Jake answering a question about that, and he was all for it about a gay role on prime time, but he wasn't so thrilled about one on daytime. We all know what happens with gay storylines on daytime, after the coming out, there's nothing. They wanted to publicity that a gay storyline gave them, but they are too scared to tell a proper gay storyline, and for giving the actors something interesting to do. Van was one of the most popular actors of daytime, he was nominated to the emmys, and Luke as a character and Nuke (and then LuRe) as couple were incredibly popular, but the show always get him in a corner playing some ridiculous storylines. I'm pretty sure that sooner or later (this is a tough job and even with talent a lot of people had to wait a lot for their oportunities, a good example is Jane Lynch, who finally get what she deserves with Glee) he will gave us good news.
At least it seems he will be busy travelling to europe in january to meet his Dutch fans with other ATWT actors. From Nelson Branco Soapgeist: Emmy winner Martha Byrne announced last week that she and several other As The World Turns actors will journey to The Netherlands on Jan. 15 to meet and greet some of the show’s European fans. World Turns is still on the air there, and it is just as popular there — if not more so — than it was in the States. Those scheduled to join Byrne include: Van Hansis, Billy Magnussen, Paolo Seganti and Elizabeth Hubbard

Too bad I'm stuck in this s*itty country. You are so lucky you're from Spain. I'm from a REALLY conservative country, and I read about gay people getting bashed every day Anyways, enough about that.. it would be nice to see Van playing gay again, definitely. But on the other hand, I don't want him to be typecasted. Rigth about now I just want him to get a job though.. ANY role would be nice, at least until something better comes along. He's a good actor, so hopefully he doesn't have to wait too long with a good agent. Though primetime is always tough to get. We'll see though

I don't think he has any risk to be typecasted if the role is in a prime time show, and specially if the character is different from Luke. He probably add his big fan base to the show he plays, but for most people he will be a totally newbie, becuase most people don't follow daytime shows (the audience will be very different). And being in LA, could help him to avoid being typecasted because even if he landed a gay role in daytime, he probably will get more oportunities to episodic roles on prime time shows and films.
And to be honest, i'm tired of people being typecasted for playing gay roles, noone is typecasted for playing straight roles. Even if the character is gay that doesn't mean that has anything to do with other gay characters. Is like if you play a straight cop you play a cop, but if you play a gay cop you play a gay role, and it's not fair.
And about my country. Don't get me wrong, spain is very different right now than ten years ago, but we are a catholic (every year less catholic) country. Here there are homophobes too, and gay bashings. But it's true the new generation is more free, and probably in a couple of generations (if all stays that way) we will be a country like netherlands when being gay is a non issue. But i don't know if we stay that way, conservatives here want to change gay marriage law, it's true that it seems they only want to change the name (to a civil union) and not touch the rights, but i don't know what to expect, because here we don't have a far right party, so the uberconservatives are all in Partido Popular. I know a lot of people who vote conservative and don't have any problem with gay marriage, but i fear the more conservatives end for impose their politics, because PP is the favourite to win next elections (but the elections are in 2012 so a lot thing could change)

Today it has been confirmed that Van will attend the Dutch event. Confirmed so far: Martha Byrne (Lily) Van Hansis (Luke) Elizabeth Hubbard (Lucinda) Billy Magnussen (Casey) Paolo Seganti (Damian) This commercial is airing on TV: Marnie Schulenburg appears in this commercial as well so I wonder if she'll be there as well. The guy you don't recognize, Peter van der Vorst. will host the event.

The good thing of living in this age is that after the event we probably could watch a lot of videos on youtube.
It's a little weird watching this forum on gone but not forgotten (even this is the obvious place for it). But i hope Jake and Van continue to give us news, and this forum continues live (i think most of my post were on here)

I am not on Van's FB but I get the feeling that the ATWT fandom wars got ugly on there. Why am I not surprised?

Elizabeth Hubbard appeared on the Dutch morning show Koffietijd today to talk about ATWT, GTST and the ATWT event on January 15. She also mentioned Van.
