I just want to point this out (although I didn't watch the show), but it seems like a guy like Ryan who went through military training and stuff should at least have his maturity level up. But it seems like (from what I gather from the comments over here about him being all immature and untactful) he wasted his time serving the military. I wonder what did he actually learn during his days as a military soldier. Let me present you with a remark from a gay servicemember that posted in xkcd forum's 'Homosexuals In The Military" discussion:

lucrece, that is really sad!
I'm glad I live in a country where gays, bisexuals and lesbians are seen as equal in all parts of society. Of course they are allowed to be in the military, why not? They are like everybody else, they can be just as good soldiers as straight people. Being gay doesn't mean anything. Your sexuality doesn't matter. Being a good soldier is the main point, doing a good job, who cares what your sexuality is?
There's actually been a lot of anti-slur campaigns lately in the military, and there's always a lot of surveys to see how gays and lesbians are being treated in the military. Most people who has been to the military here in Norway agree that it is very including, there is very little bullying too.. Most gay people actually came out of the mandatory militarty training with a POSITIVE EXPERIENCE. So, it CAN work. Norway is a proof of that. I do not get USA's stand on gay people in the military, and I never will.. Don't ask, Don't tell is really awful, and it's really disicriminating! It should never have excisted, and I hope Obama has enough balls to remove that stupid rule!

The irony of Ryan and Baya gravitating towards each other didn't pass anyone by, I hope: Both pursue careers in fields they don't have enough talent for. Why this studio guy didn't do us all a favor and confiscated Ryan's guitar, I do not know... On the other hand, a reappraisal of the cute-as-a-button-if-put-on-mute Ryan might be in order, because so far he's the only guy in the house who'll go out of his comfort zone for laughs and I'm definitely liking that side of him. Not so much when he comments on anything, though. Scott and Devyn: I feel bad for her and it wouldn't have hurt him to at least ALLUDE to a girlfriend back at home... I also would like MTV to be more considerate of its audience and have Scott be shirtless more Chet: I was pleasantly surprised... by his body. Dude's pretty buff, but that's how those cute but messed up Mormons usually go, isn't it? The whole coming on to Scott's model friend was beyond pathetic and I'm not sure it was a good idea of her to go the polite route and not tell him that it ain't gonna happen because HE'S GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY!! So Katelynn and JD are both pinned down as getting trashed and awkward / scary when they face a personal problem? The LGBT community says thank you, y'all!! The rest of the gang: Hello, are you there? ? Is this SKINS or what???

I just watched all 3 eps and I have to also say that Chet is so gay. It’s so not the clothes either. Whatever about his outfits…just observe everything he does. He was so obsessed with the size of Jd’s dick…he went on and on. He also had a little Freudian slip with saying that guy was hot during the sing-along with that guitar playing dude. (Sorry, can’t remember anyone’s names.) He brings up the gay subject a lot too and I think u can tell he enjoys talking about being hit on by guys and he likes telling people about the eyeliner. He also mentioned that he was sure people would think he was gay when 1st meeting him in the house…that means that he’s at least subconsciously trying to give off a gay vibe. I don’t think he’s Mormon at all…he’s prolly just afraid to sleep with a woman and that’s y he’s a virgin…jk. Oh and I like the transgendered girl…she so needs to dump her lame-assed fugly bf though. And I thought it was lame when everyone got all these career opportunities all quickly and “out of the blue” like you just head to NY, walk into the 1st club you see, and immediately get everything handed to you on a silver platter. It’s so not the fact that they’re on The Real World that’s making them get noticed. And to be totally random: I like the Jd’s eyebrows.

JD was invisible this episode. Chet was pathetic with his attempts at hitting; not because I think he's gay, but because the approaches to the model just came off as very creep, rather like someone who hasn't realized what a loser they are.
Baya's nice. Uh oh, Ryan. Oh, and somebody secretly steal his guitar and dump it on the sea, please.
Devyn, what a bad liar. She's falling for him, hard, and one can taste her frustration in Scott's unavailability. Also, Scott's gonna have problems whenever he has a girlfriend; he's too keen on physical affection with other females.
Kate is a mess. She's finding excuses to be unfaithful, really. I think the short-haired girl-- who's name escapes me now-- put it best: She's afraid of her chances at having a boyfriend as a transwoman, so she's sticking to what she has lest she end up alone.

I liked this last episode!
I really liked the fact that it focused on Ryan. I'm actually starting to like the guy despite the fact that he was an ass with the ignorant comments he made in the first episode. I think we got to know the real Ryan in this last episode.
Scott is an ass though, stringing Devyn along when he has a GIRLFRIEND? Why would he even say he's single in the first place if he has a girlfriend? That's just stupid! Same could be said for Ryan, but I think Ryan is more into Baya than she is into him, and he has always been upfront with the fact he has a girlfriend too, unlike Scott.. Besides, Scott is not THAT hot!
Kaitlynn is just a hot mess. And I'm not even talking about her being transexual, cause I have no problems with that. She is just annoying, like a childish teen "I love him", then "I hate him" then "I love him" again. Make up your damn mind!

Scott is a gorgeous, gorgeous man!
I don't think he's stringing along. It's Devyn's problem if she can't cope with flirtation without falling for someone. Besides, it was nice to see Ms. Self-Help be put in such an ironic position. Lecturing about drinks as an escape, and yet she can't deal with her delusions of having Scott return her feelings.

The short-haired gal is Sarah. Scott's got a nice body and a decent face. I just think he's not the physical type I usually like. Now Ryan, looks-wise, is yummy. Personality is another thing. And all that singing needs to stop. I wish he'd write more. Katelynn is a hot mess. She may miss her bf and wonder why he's not communicating more with her but going out with other men is certainly not the way to improve her relationship with her bf if that is what she really wants to do.I wish she'd also find a good shampoo & fix her greasy hair. Chet just embarrassed himself with that model. As for Devyn, I like her though I REALLY WISH SHE'D FIX THAT BUSTED WEAVE. I don't think she was delusional nor in the wrong for crushing Scott. She thought he was super hot when she first met him and they became buddies. He's flirtatious with her (though he seems to be that way in general) but add his behavior with her physical attraction to him and their friendship and it becomes a full fledged crush. I don't think it's a rare thing for someone to crush on someone they find very attractive who flirts with them. I find it strange Scott lied about being single when there was someone at home he was in to all along but I wouldn't call Devyn delusional for hoping for something to happen with Scott considering she didn't get any indicators that the possibility wasn't there until the truth about the girl back home came out. And when it did, it halted things immediately from her end. I don't see how she failed to cope or was delusional about things. I think she read more in to what there but I thought it was understandable how she got there. I will say the jealousy comment was dumb, though.

SOMEONE MAKE THE SINGING STOP. PLEASE! MAKE. IT. STOP. Devyn was so pitchy during her Star-Spangled Banner practice that I thought I was still watching American Idol. I like Devyn but her singing is not her strong suit. JD has entered douchebag territory. Chet is now romancing a girl. Scott is still unknown. Sarah's drama with her father was interesting. That's a tough thing to have happen. Episode 4 online: www.mtv.com/videos/real-world-brooklyn-ep-4-daddy-dearest-and-the-dueling-divas/1603317/playlist.jhtml.

I like Scott Sarah, I love her, I think she is probably the strongest person in that house, and I just love how she had the courage to tell her story to the world, just like that. It must be tough for her. I wonder how her father found the house's phone number? That's awkward how he called. I support Sarah!

She just doesn't have the talent. I'm still shocked by how in denial she seemed to be afterward of the fact that the guy she was auditioning her just didn't seem impressed or interested. She's gonna have a rude awakening. Also, she took the gesture from the translady too seriously; maybe the translady was just being nice. I don't know if this is perceived differently-- competitive-- by a woman. I don't like JD, period. Awful drunks are never good to be around with. Getting wasted like that all the time really hints at some issues. Oh, and poor Kate. I actually feel happy for Chet. I don't like to perpetuate stereotypes about gay men. Saying that just because he discusses anal sex and wears nontraditional clothing by straight macho guy standards that he's gay just seems to promote that inflexible view of gender norms. As such, I won't assume about his sexuality. If he says he's straight, I'll believe it until proven otherwise. I was annoyed how he seems to be playing around with Alex, though; being all nice with her, but referring to her behind her back as a mere entertainment while talking to Ryan reeks of douchebaggery. I also feel sorry for Chet in the less than flattering way people refer to him. Kate going "You ousted me to the Mormon" is not very nice, just like saying "the gay kid" isn't. It alienizes the target of the descriptor. Ryan is growing on me. The guy's clueless, but he seems well-intentioned enough. Just a bit of a kid. Scott is so shifty. He really seems very emotionally reclusive. You can tell he's cleverly reserved; his observation about Chet having a loose mouth, and thus not being eligible for trust was so Machiavellian. Kate really craves attention. Sarah, I feel bad for her. However, the way the program presents it is so cliche. The dad coincidentally called JUST after she told her molestation story to her friends. The producers made it seem awfully contrived. I loved Sapphire, though; what a cute little girl, and Sarah's endeavor is truly admirable.

Devyn: I was embarrassed for her...she really sounded lame when she said that she had accomplished more at age 20, than others... Oh, and I thought it was somewhat rude that she continued to put on makeup the entire time Sarah was opening up to her. Put down the mascara wand and give your full attention to the girl...geez. Sarah: I like her the best of everyone in the house. That thing w/ her father was totally rigged by MTV...what lameoids!! Kate: Still like her, she's just unsure of a lot of things. I hope she will start to grow while she's in the house. JD: I've never been drunk, so I dunno, but it seems like he should be able to control @ least some of the accinine things that come spurting out of his mouth. He's just horrible when he's wasted. Scott: Boring...I'm not attracted to him at all...personality or looks wise. Chet: Still think he's gay...the producers of the show are trying to make us think that @ least. Cuz don't they edit like loads of footage so that there seems to be clear stories and character traits for us to focus on? Well, they made Chet seem gay again today when he went on and on about the "hobbit" in the hot tub. He likey JD. Ryan: He made he laugh 3 times...no, not because of the mustache (slightly amusing) but with things he said...I liked the comment about kissing like a crocodile...aligator? Don't remember which one, but u get the point. and isn't there another roommate? lol, oh well...

Episode 5 is online: www.mtv.com/videos/real-world-brooklyn-ep-5-friends-and-enemies/1603847/playlist.jhtmlJD was stupid to play a prank like that on someone who spent 3 years in Iraq. I am not saying he shouldn't play pranks at all but waking someone out of a sound sleep like that when they've been to war - front line infantry at that - was not bright. Ryan's reaction was typical, IMO, of someone with some PTSD. JD struck me as remorseful after the fact but I am surprised it didn't occur to him what a bad idea that type of prank was in the first place. Devyn is a hot mess about Scott to the point that I am embarrassed for her but I too find it interesting that suddenly Scott was bring Black girls home. Then again the Black girls he brought home looked similar to each other but nothing at all like Devyn. I don't think Scott's into Devyn even secretly like she thinks and watching her make more of things & pulling jealous snits when he brought girls over was real was cringe-worthy. Ryan needs to write more. PLEASE PUT DOWN THE GUITAR. Chet farting while Scott was hanging with the girl. That was just gross. It's a natural bodily function but it was not cute or funny when he did it. And you just know Chet thought he was a natural comedian with that stunt. He wasn't bad when VJing. Episode 6 online: www.mtv.com/videos/real-world-brooklyn-ep-6-battle-of-the-sexes/1604457/playlist.jhtmlThe AfterShow for Episode 6: www.mtv.com/videos/misc/340953/lets-go-play.jhtml#id=1604458Episode recap: gawker.com/5152275/when-is-a-stripper-pole-actually-just-a-pole==== Ryan is lucky the only thing Katelynn broke was his alarm clock. Banging that pot was trifling. Not sure how I felt about the boys vs girls "drama". It wasn't as painful as I thought it would be but both sides, more so the guys, were definitely immature. Katelynn needs to find a way to not make a spectacle of herself when out at clubs. That was weird. This also includes her tendency to turn all poles and support beams into stripper poles. I understand she is still trying to embrace her feminine sexuality, but trust in that it won't be found by incorporating random cylindrical objects into a dance routines JD is still an ass. He completely spilled all of Katelynn's business with not qualms. I found that rude. Devyn's weave makes me want to weep. That thing is awful.

Episode 7: www.mtv.com/videos/real-world-brooklyn-ep-7-of-mice-and-devyns-men/1604919/playlist.jhtmlI don't have a lot to say except putting a rat in someone's bed is not funny. ========= Episode 8: www.mtv.com/videos/real-world-brooklyn-ep-8-angry-boys-and-dirty-girls/1605449/playlist.jhtmlI don't think anyone came off well in this episode, especially JD and Katelynn (what the hell was going on with her trying to embrace Ebonics?). I thought there were valid opinions on all sides regarding the lack of cleanliness and communication issues but everyone handled their irritation in ways that only made things worse instead of better. What bothers me more than anything about this episode was the non-reaction from the roommates about JD's violent outburst, especially the guys who actually seemed to be applauding what he did. I don't care how frustrated he was about the cleaning situation. Breaking the table in a rage and ripping the phone out of someone else's hand before tossing it in the river? Over the line. Nothing the girls did or didn't do that irritated JD justifies that violent behavior. And I am disgusted by guys saying it was ok for him to act out like that. God forbid he get in another rage and strike someone or throw things at another roommate. That was seriously disturbing especially how after the girls acquiesced to cleaning up after themselves, he was all smiles and smirks. Chilling.

Oy vey, from the recaps I've read and clips I've seen... I must say I'm almost compelled to spend the $1.99 on iTunes to see it all go down.
Seriously, when THE REAL WORLD was still young and fresh, JD's behavior would have let to immediate eviction from the house.

I've never had a weave because I've never been a hair dyke but there is NO excuse for having a bad weave when you KNOW you're going to be on National Television. Seriously. How could you just go down like that? No. Excuse. What So Ever. ;D QUOTE BONOBOCHICKDevyn's weave makes me want to weep. That thing is awful.

Wow, JD...really? When my roommate doesn't clean up after herself and leaves dirty dishes (which is ALWAYS) I sure as hell don't damage furniture and practically assault her. WTF were u thinking? Crazy. I don't think I like any of these people...
