Well, John Paul wouldn't be a fan. Michael is ok. Kind of stereotypical but not a bad guy.

Almost every gay guy I know acts A LOT more like Michael than Calvin or Heath (granted I lived in NYC since I was 14).
I wonder sometimes if the gay community(particularly gay men) is just not very comfortable with any depiction of gay men who aren't super masculine or "dudelike" because I hear Gay men accusing characters like Michael or Scotty (on Bros&Sis) of being "stereotypical" and I have to say, they just smells of internalized homophobia.
Lots of gay guys are very butch and sporty/preppy and lots of gay guys are not (I also think it's cultural and regional because "masculinity" is performed differently in different countries)
Just like with everyone else, I feel like there is a continuum and we should support the representation of all kinds of gays.
There are fabulously flamey gay guys like "Jack" from Will & Grace and there are not-so-flamey but definitely "gay gay" guys like "Michael or Luke or Olli or Roman" and then there are butchy/dudelike guys like "Noah or Calvin or Christian or Deniz"
As my grandma says, it takes all kinds of colors to make a rainbow.
