My best friend harangued me into watching this, spent the last few days catching up on the first season (or "first two chapters" or whatever), and I have to say I love it - can't believe this thread is so empty! It's a little bit stupid at times (I'm beyond sick of the Evan/Casey thing) but generally very funny, and there isn't a single character in it that I don't find interesting on some level (even Evan, jackass that he is). Plus, Calvin is one of the best gay teenagers I've ever seen on US television - he's not perfect by any means, but his flaws are deeper than the usual "coming out" angst, and it makes him a proper character rather than a ticked box.

Does anyone know of a good channel on YT or Dm with clips from this show?

Can't link you to them directly because of the whole "copyright infringement" thing, but I'm pretty sure it's OK for me to mention that searching for the word "greek" on its own on Dm brings up a couple of users on the first page who have what you're looking for, right?

It's an awesome show! I'm like the Evan and Frannie dynamic! I'll say that I am a Casey and Cappy fan but am enjoying Rebbecca and Cappy.
I found it interesting the back story of all of their friendships in the episode were it recapped their sophomore year.

I pretty much like all the characters except Frannie (indifferent), Evan (I am hot and cold with his sense of entitlement) and Rebecca (that chip on her shoulder is damn irritating). I have to say, Rebecca grew a lot on me over the course of the first season; I loved that line in "Separation Anxiety" (I think) when she mentions that her dad nearly dumped her mom because she wasn't polling well enough. Little glimpses like that into just how fucked-up her life has been really make me feel for her. Plus, I do have an appreciation for funny bitchy characters. Evan is the only character I truly dislike, and even with him I can see why he does the stupid, awful things that he does, even if I don't like them. Dale is probably the only character I'd write out given the choice - he's occasionally quite funny, but he's getting increasingly one-note, and he just doesn't gel with any of the main characters besides Rusty. (and even then Rusty has far more interesting relationships with Casey, Cappie and Calvin) Oh, I loved that one - suddenly made a lot of character motivations from the first half of the season an awful lot clearer. Plus, it made me not hate Evan (I still dislike him, but as I said above, 'get' him a lot more now), which is useful since he's one of the main characters and hating him viscerally kinda interrupts one's enjoyment of the show.

How nice of Casey to put her friendship with Ashleigh first. I am surprised hotness monster was still interested in Casey after both she and Ashleigh made spectacles of themselves trying to win his favor. Ashleigh's pride was obviously hurt that HM couldn't even remember her and was bad at trying to bullshit his way out of that awkward conversation. Rusty is so adorable. He reminds me of a guy I once dated. Cappie obviously cares about Rebecca but not enough to rise above his usual playful, laidback demeanor to be more supportive of her during this rough time. Like in the preview clip for next week, Rebecca rightly tells him that she's not the gal he's willing to be a better man for. That's gotta hurt and I don't even like Rebecca but she's correct. I was cringing at Cappie's blasé attitude, especially about Rebecca's parents getting divorced.

MORE ROMANCE FOR CALVIN and HEATH I love the show but I would love it even more if Calvin and Michael were more affectionate with each other. I know Calvin's not the sing-songy, write love poems type of guy but he's sweet and loving towards Rusty and Ashleigh and I'd like to see him be more so with Michael (or HEATH WITH WHOM HE REALLY BELONGS).
Just seeing him putting his clothes back on after booty-calls with Heath doesn't do it for me. Calvin needs to fall in love BIG TIME. Heath obviously has stronger feelings for Calvin then he lets on and Michael is too "together" to bring that soft lovey doveyness out of Calvin.
Come on ABCFamily, you went this far, take it all the way.
It's fine to know he's sexually active but I want hand-holding and sweet kisses and romantic dates (even the straight macho boys like Beaver get to make out on the couch and be goofy over girls).
Let Andra Avenyn be your guide. They don't shy away from the making-out and romance of boy-boy love.

yay for greek having its own section.... I love the fact that there is a possibility of Heath and Calvin getting back together... I always liked those two more than Calvin and Michael....
I so agree with darcolover55 about them needing to show more about the guy love...

I think Calvin made the right decision to break up with Michael. I was a bit surprised at Michael's reaction. I thought he would have been either angry at the cheating or pragmatic about Calvin's reasons why he wanted to break up. I was definitely caught off guard with Michael's comments to Calvin.
Then we get the talk about soulmates between Cappie, Rusty and Calvin with Cappie once again thinking about Casey and being totally jealous over Casey & Max's relationship.
I had a feeling Ashleigh was going to be a write-in winner for ZBZ president with how dirty it was getting between Frannie & Casey. I think it's definitely going to negatively impact Casey & Ashleigh's friendship in the short-term.

I'M CROSSPOSTING BECAUSE I'M SO GRRRR
I want to love Calvin. I want to care about him. But I just can't find it in me.
Heath. I'm all about Heath. As a gay character, I just find him so much more compelling.
I know Greek writers of get a twofer by having Calvin be both gay and black but, couldn't they have found an actor who could actual convey (with his acting, not his word) that he has desire for men. Calvin is so warm to Rusty and Evan and Ashleigh, WTF!.
Even "The N" (that other bastion of teen-shows) allows it's gay teens/college students to touch and kiss and hug and hold hands, act like they're in love or lust or something on screen and act like they're actually attracted to each other.
With GREEK I feel like I have the opposite complaint of what lot of folks have about ATWT
I have yet to see Calvin show any actual emotion or attraction to either Michael of Heath.
It's just weird.
In this show where everyone (even Rusty) is always making out and all over each other, Calvin's relationships just seems so dry...
When he said Michael might have been his soulmate, I ALMOST FELL OFF THE ROOF in disbelief!
I think his character just lacks any romance or sexual tension or indication of desire.
If I turned the sound off, I could have though Michael was his tutor.
Once again, there is more warmth and genuine affection between Cappie and Rusty than there ever is between Calvin and anyone of his "boyfriends"
I wasn't surprised by what Michael said only because I think their relationship wasn't very serious and he's older and knows that Calvin is in college. I think Evan was right in saying that college is about fun. Unless he allows himself to fall in love (which I think he's going to with Heath) Calvin needs to just date and explore and figure out who he is with regards to dating.

darcolover55, I was surprised with Michael wanting to hold on to the relationship with Calvin (I guess I wasn't all that clear in my original comments about what surprised me) and that whole soulmate thing was odd. I know two disparate folks can be soulmates but like you, I never saw any connection between Michael & Calvin that showed their differences were complementary or even positives to the relationship.
I also thought Michael was more in to it than Calvin and that I think if anyone has a chance to make Calvin emote more passion, it's Heath.
I can buy Cappie & Casey as soulmates (no matter how cute I find her with Max and I never saw a soulmates or even love connection with Evan) but Michael & Calvin? No.

Ok episode. IMO, not great but certainly not terrible. I am glad that Ashleigh decided to pull an Angelina Jolie because not only was it important to get the ZBZs thinking about the house being the ones to set the standard of greatness on campus instead of being entirely dependent on a Frat to do it, but it also cut Frannie's power play out completely. AWESOME. I am glad Casey's comment got through to Ashleigh about that even though Casey did overstep at times trying to help Ashleigh. I am also glad the tense stuff between them is over with. Moving on... this may be the minority opinion but the Dale's old buddy drama was completely boring to me. And Rusty looked darn cute in that red shirt he had on in the beginning (y'all know about my red shirt fetish). The 70s party looked like a hoot and the scene with Cappie, The Beaver and Wade at the end was funny. ;D I also chuckled at Evan's "awkward" comment when the Omega Chis went to grab Calvin for hell week and found him in bed with Heath. Cute moment between those two at the 70s party. Season finale next week!! ps: GayTime, I know you didn't get Evan and Beaver waking up together - though I think we both currently share total disgust over Evan's behavior this season - but hey, you got Beaver with two other guys! ;D

There is something about Beaver that is so sexy. I don't know what it is. I just think he's like this giant teddy bear of love and he's so supportive of other boys in the house. He's smart and sweet and I wish he was at least bi because he could give Calvin a run for his money in the affections of Heath and maybe Calvin would appreciate Heath more. I'm a freak, what can I say. I adore Heath and I'm starting to crush on Beaver.

My first thoughts when the season finale finished were that Frannie is an egomaniacal bitch, Evan is a petty bastard and Casey was way too self-absorbed with it ending up biting her in the ass again. Frannie annoys the hell out of me cause she cannot accept anything less than being a sorority president and perhaps if she'd concentrated on her grades more, she'd have gone out that way instead of staying for a fifth year that ended up getting her dethroned as ZBZ president. While Casey's self-absorption about Max ended up costing her Rebecca's fickle loyalty - more on that in a moment - Frannie is just so obvious in being fake, vain & power hungry that I don't understand why anyone is wanting to take up with her. With Rebecca, I am tired of her making selfish decisions because she is hurt or mad. She's got a lot of influence with the other pledges and she allows herself to be used and easily bought depending on who has been nice to her or can offer her something. Where are her principles? She was right to get the other pledges to write-in Ashleigh as president during the Casey vs Frannie mess that was tearing the house apart but then she turns right back around to get them to leave ZBZ solely because of Casey's recent self-absorption. WTF? And Evan... the way he hit Rusty with the paddle was sick. What a petty, vindictive bastard. Even Calvin seemed taken aback and disgusted by what Evan did to Rusty. I am glad Cappie and the rest of the house have Rusty's back with the brawl that followed Rusty's run from the Omega house but I want to see Evan suffer. Seriously. That look of pleasure on his face after hitting Rusty was absolutely vile. IMO, Cappie and Casey still have IT but now is not the time for them. Anyhoo, interesting finale overall. To me it felt more like a set up for the next season (the show is back in March 2009) rather than a resolution for the past season. Loving this show... but wish they make the Heath/Calvin pairing more official... still not sure if they are boyfriends or just friends with benefits... I love Fannie, she serves as a really good foil to Casey... otherwise, there wouldn't be enough drama... I don't like the whole Fannie/Evan pairing though... they just don't go together very well for me... Rebecca is nice at times for the drama, but sometimes she is just such a spoiled little girl... I kinda wish the writers would just break up all the pairing in the show and just let them date other people.... Love how the season ended with the ZBZ... it add a lot of possible storylines for next season... there is two frats to play off each other, so it make sense to create an equally powerful sorority to contrast the ZBZ.... I also heard that Jesse McCartney will be joining the cast as a reoccurring character that will be an old friend to Calvin... I love Jesse and can't wait to see him next season... Now, the writers just need to make Jesse's character gay so he can have some scenes to fuel my fantasy

Jesse McCartney will show up on Greek next season!
I know a lot of people don't liek him, but I do. And he is a gay fave too, I remember the interview he did for The Advocate, sooo cute!

So... has Calvin ever had a black/non-white love interest? He's only had two on-screen love interests, Michael & Heath, and they're both white. He hasn't talked about any prior hook ups or boyfriends, so *shrugs* maybe in his past but nothing on the show.

So in short, this is the third white love interest in a row. I have to say, I for one would rather see him date somebody black for a change. Especially since Calvin's previous pairings weren't exactly strongholds of explosive chemistry and romanticism. So why not mix it up and see if him dating somebody none-white maybe offers a more interesting relationship dynamic?
It doesn't have to last forever, but I'm at the point where it genuinely would feel like a nice change of pace.
I'm all for interracial relationships, but when it seems like that is all a show is doing, I can't help but wonder if the writer of the show don't worry on some level that if Calvin doesn't date a white guy he'll be less relatable to a white audience. So yeah, I would like to see him with some non-white boys at least on occasion.
