Don't they have a gay headwriter? So I think there's a decent chance that he'll go against what we expect in this area. Buck the trend.

I, too, am loving this story which is why I am being so pig-headed optimistic at the moment. As far as my investigations have uncovered Chad is supposed to appear in both episode 13&14 (on 14th & 21st October) which takes us up to the season finale. Could be wrong, but I hope not.

And to my defense: the word did turn up when Kyle talked about his brother behaving as if he was James Mc Dean James MC Dean - dear me- here you can see what will happen when you (I) try posting in this thread in the middle of the night after visiting the "Hollyoaksthread" earlier in the evening (and the fact that I had some red wine probably didn't help). Took me some time to exactly figure out what was wrong

I am going to give a dissenting opinion here....I am prolly going to be in the minority here but I DONT want Kyle and Eric on GH proper....there I said it!!!! GH does not have the best track record with gay characters. A few years ago there was a character called Lucas. He was Robin's cousin. he was introduced with so much promise, and was soon relegated to window dressing. He had a blink or you will miss it bashing storyline, then just dissapeared....did not go into a coma, die or anything...just poof! and he was gone and his absense was never explained... As a 13 wk serial, Night shift has gone places with the Eric character that the mothership would not touch... Seeing the basic neutering of Nuke is what brings me to this conclusion. I like the Kyle character too much to have him destroyed by daytime. And Chad Allen is too good an actor for me to see that happen to. So if it means waiting till next season to see Kyle again...well so be it.... Until proven otherwise I really dont have alot of faith in American daytime writers, and as I said I like Kyle too much for them to tinker too much with him....

I was thinking something like that, too.... Even the beautiful kiss Erik and Kyle shared in the last episode would be impossible in daytime... I can't think it would be different with the writing and the developing of a "realistic" gay relationship (as Ollian is, for example) in american daytime (not to speak in italian one... that is even more close to gay / lesbian storyline... )... sadly, Nuke teaches us that.... BTW, I really like Eric and Kyle characters and their love story, so I really hope to see them, together, in 3rd series of GH - Night Shift...

Originally, Chad's stint with the show was supposed to end with the 13th episode (to air on Tuesday), but according to Nelson Branco's Suds Report, they signed the actor to one more episode, so he'll be in the season finale to air on the 21rst.

I agree with you, Flo. I'm not sure what it's about GH: Night Shift, but it reminds me of how the soaps USED to be with their storylines and the PACING of their stories, from the time that I used to watch them faithfully in my teen years during the late 80's/early 90's. I get much more from this once a week, one-hour show, in which ALL of the storylines keep me interested. I liked the fact that the reveal of Claire having a one-night stand with Leo was completed, without it having to be dragged on and on and on for weeks at a time (or days at a time - if it was on the Mothership). I liked the fact that Saira figured out what was going on, just by being OBSERVANT to what was going on (and not going on) around her. Kyle and Leo arguing all the time. Kyle and Claire NOT speaking. Something went down and TPTB actually allowed a smart, intelligent and gorgeous female character figuring things out on her own, without a male character (who probably is being setup to be that character's NEXT romantic partner in storyline) telling her the truth.
TPTB treat the characters AND their audience, like they actually have brains. We don't need EVERYTHING spoonfed to us, but also don't drag out things, that we'll eventually just get bored with and/or figure the twist out on our own.
Then there's the whole Eric/Kyle storyline, which has a nice pace to it (even though it reminds me of the doctor/patient storyline from Gray's Anatomy from a couple of seasons ago).

I absolutely loved the last episode! The last scene really moved me and I'm happy to know that Chad Allen has signed for one more episode so it seems he will be in the season finale, I can't wait to see next episode.

I really loved how they built up the relationship between Kyle and Eric, I like them a lot and really hoped to see Chad Allen in the next season of Nightshift or if Kyle made the jumb on the mothership I hope to see Eric with him too there (they could teach to ATWT writers how to write for a gay couple)

I really don't understand why this show was canceled. The ratings weren't bad and it was well reviewed...so wtf happened?

I thought the clips from this show had been removed a long time ago when Anthony's youtube channel was pulled. Amprat1 started uploading the Kyle and Eric story and here is the first clip:
