If we could decide who we loved, it would be much simpler, but less magical.

I don't know if anyone watches Cold Case. But there was an episode I think in the fourth season called Forever Blue. This is my favorite episode of the series and it has really stuck with me. Pretty much every Cold Case I want the victim to not be dead, mainly because they are killed when they have so much to live for. But this episode with Coop and Jimmy gets me every time. It was about two cops who are partners who fall in love back in the 60's. Coop is the dreamer and more outward of the two. He knows who he is and is proud of the kind of man he is. He keeps the fact that he's gay a secret more because of the time, his father, and because how the guys on the force would react. Jimmy is a closet married gay man, who I don't think truly realize he was gay until Coop came around. Jimmy is more fearful of the pressures of society and keeping his family together. Sadly youtube no longer has the entire episode on line. But the main scenes with Coop and Jimmy are. Cheerios this is one of my favorite episodes too, and it was much discussed in another thread a few weeks ago, so I know there are many more fans on this board! I sometimes find it hard to watch Cold Case because of the "innocent victim" aspect of the show.......and this one was especially hard, but such a wonderful story! Your video is wonderful.......must go get tissues now........thank you for sharing!

Forever Blue is episode 410. There is a thorough write up of the episode here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forever_Blue_(Cold_Case_episode)I love this episode. So good... the acting, the music, the script. It actually made me start watching the series as a whole, which I am glad I am doing cause the series is rather good. I still can't watch the last few minutes with "My Back Pages" and not cry. Stories like this always get to me, when two people are in love, try to be together and then can never be together due to outside forces.

Thanks Cherrios! I've just posted a comment on YT. Congrats for your video! As soon as I have some tissues handy I'll watch the final scene of Forever Blue again.

Ok, like I've said before: I didn't cry. But I do think it was a wonderful episode! Beautiful done.

I've seen this episode, at least 5 times, since it initially aired in 2006. It was only a couple of months after Brokeback Mountain had been released in the theatres (late December 2005/early January 2006) and I NEVER watch Cold Case, but I somehow saw the description of the episode (cop gets killed, because people assume he's gay) and it intrigued me. Then I saw the episode the very first time and I was blown away by the performances of the two young actors portraying Jimmy and Coop. To me, it felt like the writers of the show, were totally inspired by the film, because of the things the couple said to each other.
"We're the lucky ones." "Don't you want more." "It's not going to be this way."

The actor who portrayed young Jimmy, Brian Hallisay who I think is gorgeous, is in a new show premiering on The CW titled " Privileged": www.tv.com/privileged/show/75220/summary.html?tag=tabs;summaryAnd Michael Cassidy is in it too! (Loved him in that trashy show, Hidden Palms) I plan to check out at least the premiere ep.

I think it was better to show them that way, anyhow cause it felt less drawn out. I didn't think the show was that awful; it was pretty entertaining on an incredibly superficial level and I liked Jessi Jo, Cliff and Nikki. But I am looking forward to seeing Brian Hallisay again. He showed some decent acting chops in FB, so I hope to see some more of that.
