Ok, as promised a 'short' recap of the wedding/holiday: I left Thursday morning from Schiphol airport and after taking a plane and a bus we arrived at the Central Station of Milan. Where we had to wait more than 1 and a half hours for our train to Varenna. Apparently there was only a train every two hours to that little town and we had just missed it of course. So we arrived the end of the afternoon and were glad we took a taxi to our hotel! My friend told us the hotel was in walking distance of the train station, but I think we would have melted on our way up the hill while carrying our luggage. It was a very (!) steep road. The view from the hotel was amazing! We could see the Como lake and all the little towns on the other side of the lake. We spend the rest of the day wandering around Varenna and when we were having dinner the bride and groom to be (and the groom's best friend: the Irish guy! ;D) were passing the place we were eating. And of course they joined us. We had lots of fun! (O, btw: don't get all your hopes up. Nothing happened between the Irish guy and me; he was just very easy on the eyes and a very smart, funny and sweet man all together. *sigh*) Later that night the Irish guy walked back with us (me and the friend I shared the room with), because he stayed in the same hotel. He showed us there was another part of the hotel; to get there we needed to take two small glass elevators to get higher up the mountain. That part of the hotel used to be an old monastery and the view from there was just breath taking! Especially when all the lights went out and all we saw were the stars and the lights of the little houses around the lake. No noise at all except some crickets. Absolutely stunning! (And it would have been very romantic if there weren't three of us. )
Friday was the day of the wedding! Although I went for a swim in the Como lake first; couldn't leave before I did that ey? It was very warm that day: 37 degrees C. And very humid. Everyone was sweating and even though I felt very hot, I felt more sorry for the guys having to wear suits. At least the women could wear skirts and dresses. The bride looked beautiful and the groom very handsome. The ceremony was short but luckily we could understand everything being said because the Irish guy (who is fluent in both english and italian ) translated everything that was said. After the ceremony it was time for bubbles, food and cake. Although the cake had a melt down: litteraly! ;D It was so hot the cake had actually melted. (Tasted good anyway!) Between the reception and dinner we had a little stroll through the botanic gardens (that's were the ceremony was held) and enjoyed the view. Dinner was long and very good! We left after every one else had already left because it started raining very hard and there was thunder and lightning. Not inviting weather for the walk back to our hotel. But hey, we had - once again - the company of the Irish guy, so eventually we arrived back safe and sound. Stayed for a drink on the terras of the hotel; watching the thunderstorm above the lake. Very impressing!! But then we had to get back inside because the owner wanted to close the terras because of the storm. So we bought a bottle of wine and continued the conversation in the room of the Irish guy. Had a great time! We discovered we shared a love for the soundtrack of a small Irish movie; he was very surpised I knew it. (It was on my mobile phone / mp3 player to be accurate ) So I was rewarded with some sparkling eyes and the best smile ever! (I'm serious: he was gorgeous ;D).
Saterday was spend climbing up the mountain because all the people who attended the wedding and were still in Varenna wanted to play a soccer match. (Yes, I know: I don't get it either why someone would want that during the middle of the day in the hot sun. Or on the day after you got married -> the groom) Anyway, I decided to be a part of the audience and do some supporting. (Read: watching Irish guy run around getting all sweaty. ;D) Oh, and of course to talk a bit more to my friends. Unfortunately one of the (dutch) guys fell hard on his back and to be on the safe side had to be taken to hospital to make a scan. Irish guy voluntered to go with him, because he was the only one who was fluent in english and italian, next to the bride and groom. And since he was a way to nice guy to ruin their first day of marriage, he went with the guy even though he was more or less a stranger to him. (Really, the guy couldn't do anything wrong! And no, he wasn't even gay. ;D ) Sadly enough he was the only one I never got the chance to say goodbye to. (And he moved from London to Mallorca, so the chances I'll run into him when I visit my friends in London are almost zero. Ah well, I had three days of good eye candy! ) I took the train to Milan later that day and after checking in in the hotel I wandered a bit throught the city centre, but since I was very tired I decided to make it an early night. After taking a very hot and nice bath of course.
Sunday I finally got to meet our Aldebaran! And yes, he's as sweet as he sounds over here. We had a great time and he showed me a lot of Milan. (Oh, and I learned a lot about the public transport in Milan and Italy ;D.) We went up to the roof of the Duomo which was great and we've seen a lot of stores while talking about how much Princess and Bonobochick would love to shop there. (Unfortunately most shops were closed during my stay in Milan; bad timing. But no money to spend on clothes and stuff anyway so maybe it's a good thing .) We ended our day eating the biggest pizza I've ever eaten!
Monday I felt every muscle I used the day before; felt like an old lady... Still managed to walk a bit more through the city and after some searching found the last church I wanted to visit, only to discover it was closed a few hours between the morning and the afternoon. After that I decided I had seen enough; bought a book at the American Bookshop and put my feet in the cold water of the fountain in front of Castello Sforzesco. After an hour my trip back started...
Some photo's as a preview:I also made a - rather nice, if I may say so myself - slideshow with Photobucket, but I'm not posting it on the forum because there are personal pictures in it next to buildings and landscapes. But I'm more than happy to share it via PM with anyone who wants to see them! Just let me know... (The word 'photo' is enough. )

Thanks Mom and Amber and Eldanesh. That was sweet of you to pass on virtual good wishes and I appreciate your consideration. I am still feeling a bit burnt out but not as badly as yesterday. Yesterday was just Princess was able to help me off the ledge some as well. Hopefully today will be different. Amber, will look at your pics in a moment, but I have to go get my mocha first and try to wake up. Thanks for the recap. Sounds like you had a blast and Irish guy? Hubba! Eureka was good last night. ;D I missed Martha, but I got more Alison & Jack, which I was happy about, so it was a fine trade off. And yay for Wipeout.

Amber beautiful photos......both in quality and content! :DI'm sooooo jealous......I have barely mastered......"point and shoot"! Is that Lake Como in the first one? Absolutely stunning! Irish guy sounds adorable! I'll bet he was sad he didn't get to tell you a proper goodbye! I predict "smiling Irish eyes" in you future! Bonobochick has the peppermint mocha kicked in yet? I hope so, we can't have our favorite Mod feeling less than stellar!! ;D Maybe Halunke will call/stop by today......he seems to have a sixth sense when it comes to knowing what you need sometimes! I'm off now.....busy day getting an overhaul before the trip.....color, wax, polish........ sounds like I'm getting "detailed" like we do the cars! But like a car....the older it gets the more maintence it needs and it takes longer to do it! ;D Neand48 and Aldebaran you are missed! I know Neand is on vacation....... Aldebaran must still be recovering from his visit with Amber or subbing VL in Italian! Ollian

Nothing from halunke yet today but he's been kinda crazy lately with work. We'll see as I don't have my magic earrings on so that certainly dims my chances. If no visit from him, I always have that not even remotely good picture I took of him a few days ago to gaze at in the meantime. The mocha hasn't kicked in yet... neither has the green tea pill I have taken... but hopefully in the next hour or two. I am having dinner with a friend tonight and seeing Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. I might have preferred the 4:20(!) showing of Pineapple Express but that doesn't work for her. As for PrincessO, they've been slaving him at work plus it's hard for him to type with one finger but I know he's reading things, even if he's not posting. Have fun treating yourself! You deserve it.

Here's your admin's Wednesday hunk: OH-HO SAY CAN YOU SEE...In other news, the ban on discussing TDK is lifted from my end as I have FINALLY seen it - but those in Europe where it hasn't premiered yet might object. I'll just say that it certainly lives up to its hype. Amber, your vacation sounds gorgeous and those pictures are awesome!

Wow - Amber - that place you went to sounds & looks absolutely stunning - I'm sooooo jealous - and as for the Irish guy - well, there's nothing sexier than a soft Irish brogue I still can't believe that two of the gang have actually met in person Aldebaran - I'm sure you were a great host - you do seem to know so much about your area. B-chick - sorry you're feeling a bit frazzled at the moment - I only read selected threads in AWZ, VL, HO and some off topic ones and even that makes my brain numb sometimes. And as for being the fave mod - don't be humble honey - I honestly don't know how you do it. Mom - How's the valet coming along ;D Just remember - the older the car - the more lovingly it is looked after cos it's not just a "throwaway" model btw - KC Eldanesh & Mikey - how's the interviews going? - has Mom given a list yet ;D - has the speedos been officially ditched then? btw Mikey - the Olympics start in a couple of days - I thought we were getting a Hunkalicious countdown Jaynin - we seem to have gone back to ships passing in the night again - catch this on your way past Princess O - I only type with two fingers - and look at the amount of waffle I manage - just teasing - Mom's on 50 posts in here already LOL Here's a wee to help the mending process. Well am supposedly on holiday now - but still kinda working - livestock don't understand the meaning of the word holiday - Chris, Olli, Halunke and the rest of the gang still need to be fed - sadly have had two casualties amongst the latecomers - nature WILL have it's way I need to use this time to blitz the house - Mum & Dad visit at the beginning of Sept - so can't have the house looking like a midden ;D At the moment I just don't have the motivation to do it - any volunteers ;D

So sorry to read about the loss of two latecomers. *hugs* Thanks for your kind thoughts. I am feeling a bit better as the day goes along and it helps that today is more quiet. And GayTime and I have met too. ;D So I was looking at this new photo - don't judge me! Jake S is 2nd on my list of hotties on this board/ gay pairings and in my top 15 overall and he looks so hot in the new photos - and I noticed that Van has chest hair. CHEST HAIR! What a WELCOME change. Maybe he will lead the way with not only that but getting some of the men to grow back their underam hair.

I've seen Van's chest hair before (bed jumping, anyone) - and I strongly approve.
And Jake? OMG. If PGP only knew what a winner they have with that pairing. Daytime would never be the same... :-)

Thanks Sheepie, I've done my best, but Milan is definitely NOT my area! I'm so sorry about your loss... I hope you'll be able to have some rest and somehow enjoy your holidays. Thanks for the hunk picture Wolfi! Bonobo, I agree with you on Jake, he's really gorgeous in the new photos. What can I say? Guys born on the 1st of June are particularly hot... ;D J9, how are you doing? I've heard of a storm hitting Texas, in Galvestone area. What about Austin? Are you okay over there? Another storm struck Boston yesterday, with 100mm (4 inches) of rain in an hour only! Thank goodness Skilian is far away now!

Is that Lake Como in the first one? Absolutely stunning! Irish guy sounds adorable! I'll bet he was sad he didn't get to tell you a proper goodbye! I predict "smiling Irish eyes" in you future! Lol! And that's all I did: 'point & shoot'. ;D Didn't really think about it. The surroundings were so beautiful; you can't go wrong. And yes, that is Lake Como in the first picture. I wish! Princess O.: another hug from me too. Working hard and not being able to type fast. Nope, no fun. At least we're still thinking about you. Glad you finally got to see TDK GayTime and that you loved it of course. Oh, and thanks for Wednesday hunk! Sheepie, he was Irish, but I couldn't really detect a Irish brogue. Unfortunately enough, because that would have made him even more sexy. He was born in Ireland, raised in Italy till he was twelve, moved to England after that (London) and now lives in Mallorca. So I guess it's a bit of everyting. So holiday actually started? Officially that means? So the clipping is done? Or do you still have to work next to feeding the youngsters? Good luck with turning the house from a midden (love that word ;D) to a palace! O, and Aldebaran knew a lot more about Milan than my traveling guide did. Or at least: he knew it by heart! Which is pretty smart by my standards... ;D Mom: I'm not sure if I'll see you here before you leave tomorrow, so in case I miss you: Have a great trip to KC!!! Enjoy yourself and come home with a lot of stories... Big kiss to you! Oh and B-chick: Van has a lot of chest hair. ;D We just never get to see it. Such a shame, because both men are worth looking at.

If no visit from him, I always have that not even remotely good picture I took of him a few days ago to gaze at in the meantime. You took off the magic earrings!!!! I thought you would just build a wardrobe around them, so you never needed to take them off!! If halunke doesn't materialize today......I say, see the movie...and then rob a cradle! ;D Worked last week didn't it! It's late enough now you could switch to "espresso vodka".....really....at the 4th of July party somebody brought this bottle of espressso flavored vodka.....the one sip I had was actually pretty good! I'm not sure it will have much of a future though.....can you imagine anything worse than a wide awake drunk?? Enjoy the movie and next time tell your friend "the person having the worst day....gets to pick the movie and the time... Mom said so!" ;D As for PrincessO, they've been slaving him at work plus it's hard for him to type with one finger but I know he's reading things, even if he's not posting. Yeah, I can feel him lurking and laughing! ;D One more day Ollian and then[glow=blue,2,300]a day off![/glow] ;D What ever will you do with yourself? Sheepie glad to hear your R&R has started! ;D Even though it's more like a deep scale back of duties......anything would be a welcome relief from all that clipping! Also glad to hear our "trio" is doing so well.......and sorry about the late comers! Nature BTW KC stands for Kansas City! As in Kansas City, Missouri......if I had an extra minute I would find a link to that great city...."more blvds than Paris....more fountains than Rome"! I spent my young adult years living in an apartment on the Country Club Plaza, in the "Poets Corner" section! Beautiful place....when I have more time, I will find a link! I heard a rumor my old building is going condo.....if it's true I might buy one! HAVE TO PACK NOW! PS Wolfi Thanks for the "Hump Day Hunk!"......I look forward to next week!!!

Thanks for reassuring me J9! Actually, I knew that Austin wasn't that close to the seaside, but since those storms/hurricanes usually move so fast and sometimes they affect the land too, I didn't know if your city was okay. Glad to know that you're fine. Restenergy, thanks for sharing the DC hunk pictures, count me among those who had to dry their keyboard... ;D Well, if he lets his chest hair grow a bit, next time the programme on bears will feature him again, but not as a presenter!
