It will be funnier if it isn't so near to reality

Even though I understand why everyone is quick to blame Craig, it makes me a little sad that he's not getting any credit for his genuine attempts to do right by Carly, and be a different man. As Maura West's maternity leave looms, I'm a little nervous about what it means for Craig. We're still not getting any indication of what he'll be doing once Carly's gone. I hope he doesn't fade into the woodwork.

=== davedoty, rumor has it that Craig will be consoled by Janet's newly arriving sister, Terri. A sister who is about 20.

I can think of at least one storyline you'd hate even more for him, though. Speaking of which, has he run into Meg since he came back? Everyone else has had a shot at him by now.

I was intrigued by today's scenes with Bob. It looks like they might give him a storyline (Bob getting Alzheimer's disease?). This could turn out to be great, involving a lot of vets. Let's hope the show won't screw it up. I liked it that this wasn't spoiled in advance.

I know I'm going to get a mixture of blank and disbelieving stares for this suggestion, but once the current and about-to-launch romantic entanglements work themselves out, you know who might be interesting together? Craig and Janet. She seems to have a good eye for when he is or isn't sincere, and gives him the benefit of the doubt without ever being suckered in. She's seen how much he's been trying to be better, and wasn't personally affected by any of his nastier moves of the past. And she and Jack are clearly doomed once Carly gets back from rehab. I think it would be interesting.
And yes, I know what's coming up for Craig. That's never stopped anyone on soaps before.

Actually, on another board, we surmised that about Craig & Janet eventually hooking up when she first came on the show. The problem for me is I don't want Jack with Carly because I hate the way he talks to her and about her. They still have chemistry but that relationship is toxic to me until Jack stops berating Carly constantly to her face and behind her back. The show needs to address that about him and I need to see him change on that score or it will be right up there with Casey/Alison and Meg/anybody for pairings I FF over due to extreme loathing.

I think that this not only depends of ATWT ratings as the substitute of GL. If the new program do really bad, they'll think twice after replace another soap

From today's Nelson Branco suds report: As The World Turns, Global/CBS — Jean Christina who? • Ciao, Jean Passanante and Chris Goutman: Emmy winner David Kreizman is head-writing life in Oakdale. Expect a lot of surprises from the show killer. Some scary — and some good. Sorry, my lips are sealed. All I can say is there is no need to worry … yet. Six months from now, we will.
Well, at least he give them six months (that's not bad seeing how pessimistic everyone is about ATWT future, and today's ratings are far from good, even to be fair, all soaps sink this week)

I've been watching for about 8 months now and I have to say, this was the single best episode I've seen in that time. Really Excellent.
Frankly, I no longer watch the show for Nuke except insofar as they interact with Damian, so I didn't really notice Luke's lacklustre acting, or the absence of Noah.
Of the two main storylines, the Hughes family was definitely the more compelling. I'm really looking forward to all of this play out. In particular, I'll be interested to see Ali's reaction to Riley's true identity. She and Margo were really the only characters to like Riley the cover identity, and Ali doesn't have that unconditional maternal love.
We know that body wasn't Holden's, since the thief took all of his stuff. They even went out of their way to show that he was taking jewelry, although I don't remember if they showed the watch. This makes me suspect that Holden is still alive, although Emma's supernatural visitation is evidence the other way. (Insert a "Supernatural visitation" photoshop with Sam and Dean here.)
I've said before that I believe ATWT has been on an upswing lately, and I definitely think it's even more so today. It's still the weakest soap I watch, but it's back in the running. Sadly, Nuke isn't benefiting from this, so clip-watchers probably can't see the difference.

This is true, all I watch are the Nuke clips, which sadly, is becoming harder to do> i nearly moan aloud everytime I see there is new Nuke to watch! This shouldn't be!
In other news - where in the world is Jade? I don't watch the entire show so I'm hoping she's in other storylines. or did they just write her character off without any explanation of where the hell she is?

According to the actress's twitter that someone posted on another board I am on several weeks ago, she's not been at the studio for a very long while. I guess they want to keep throwing men at Alison with the hope that one will stick. I am really irritated that she's still in minority closet when she could be involved with the Riley drama considering she and Adam had a thing. From www.soapcentral.com/atwt/whoswho/jade.php :

Nelson Branco makes his predictions of what Fall will bring tvguide.sympatico.msn.ca/Special_Features/Fall_Premiere/Articles/090817_soaps_ATWT_NBAS THE WORLD TURNS Fall’s Hottest Star: Forbes March What’s better than two gay characters on a soap? Three gay characters! As Noah’s mysterious film prof, Mason Jarvis is at the centre of Oakdale’s hot-button topic: will he break up Noah and Luke? Or does “the older gay” have another agenda? Either way, it’s been nice to have our beloved March back on daytime. Even if he may be stalking Jessica on One Life! Fearless Fall Predictions: Oakdale is re-named Portdale; a few Springfield citizens move to town; Paul and Meg continue living in the vortex of suck; Audrey throws a Doctor’s Ball; Lily is furious when Damian accidentally calls her Trisha; Holden embarks on a sizzling affair with Rosanna before Carly returns; and Ellen Wheeler hides from the soap press in Dusty’s hair.

Scenes from Holden's funeral (Noah is m.i.a) pgpclassicsoaps.blogspot.com/2009/08/r.html#linksWell i read that the next Nuke day will be thrusday next week. For me is just amazing the use that ATWT make of Nuke. Their direct competition is pulling their gay storyline (and making a great job) and ATWT is just giving no screen time to their more popular couple. Sorry, but i can't understand it

That Noah is not there is a GLARING oversight but where the hell is Jade? I mean, she's still living at Lily's house. WTF?? This show is so damn trifling at times.

Well, Noah is a bit out of the picture lately, but Jade's pic must be on walls and trees with a reward for some information, because she is missing for a long time now

Maybe he's just not in the photo but is actually at the funeral. He would have to be there. If he was bleeding from the head Noah would never miss Holden's funeral. I refuse to believe it and the only purpose it would serve is to make Luke mad at Noah and that would be cheap. Even for school you get a funeral excuse and given that Noah's advisor is a gay man, he would appreciate that Luke and Noah are FAMILY!!! so I don't see school being an excuse to miss the funeral.

And then there is this gossip ( tvguide.sympatico.msn.ca/Soaps/Suds/Articles/090814_suds_report_NB.htm ): Mr. & Mrs. Smith who? Yesterday, Soaps In Depth tweeted their first major scoop since George Bush’s first “Presidential” administration: Austin Peck has been unexpectedly “released” from his World Turns contract. Suds Report has learned that Peck, who recently separated from his wife, Tara, is currently embroiled in a controversial affair with one of his married castmates which ultimately polarized the set. “Everyone wanted him fired because the woman he had an affair with left her husband, whom we all love,” reveals one actor. Another source reports another reason for increased tension on the Brooklyn set: “Michael [Park, Jack] and Austin have been at odds for some time.”
Reportedly, the cast is “universally happy” that the “home wrecker” has been let go. Suds Report reminds the World Turns cast that it takes two to tango, kids. As a rule, I do not write about actors’ personal lives — unless, of course, it affects what we see on our screens. I’m not really sure how Peck’s personal choices led to him being fired — nor do I understand why his female lover still has a job if Peck was fired. Reverse sexism much? But this is the wacky, nonsensical world of soaps, after all … I’m going to miss my Brad and Katie. Click here to read my interview with 2008's Sexiest Couple Alive. It wouldn't be 'reverse sexism', just sexism as sexism is not a one street but anyhoo, I agree that if the affair was a consensual thing, both should get the boot, not just him.
