Maybe I'm just having a dumb moment, but I could use help.
Currently, when a thread I'm interested in has new posts, I have to hunt for the first new post since I last marked the threads as read.
Is there a way to automatically be taken to the first new post? Some message boards have that feature - I haven't found it here yet. It's been frustrating for me.
Thanks!

I just press the little blue button that says "new." There may be another way, but that is what works for me.

I can find a button that says "mark all boards as read at the bottom of the main page - but I never use it cos I'm never at a point where I am caught up with allboards simultaneously

When I go onto a specific board, for example the general board, I can see a list of threads. If the thread has something new that I haven't read then to the left of the thread title I will see a little blue oval with the word new written in white. If I press that little blue oval it takes me to all the new posts I haven't read.
It can be a little picky. I have to be exactly on the blue oval. And you don't have to press "mark as read". It knows where the last post was. Of course this only works if you are logged in.

Is it just me or this happened to somebody else, too? I can't really find a system in it, but when browsing on the main blog pages, viewing comments, going back and forth, suddenly I get more and more popups opened with the same blog page, it's like some annoying virus I have to open Task Manager and kill the Internet Exploder process. I use IE7 and Vista... I have tried to reproduce what you've described, but couldn't... maybe it IS a virus (not trying to scare you, it's probably just a setting within IE or a little malfunction at blogger.com)

I set that URL to restricted area and now it does not activate ActiveX components and it did not happen since. Better than nothing ETA: the popups used to start when I closed that page in a tab.

I know that Blogger is fighting an issue with ActiveX controls and IE7/Vista. So maybe... Good advertising for Firefox, IMHO ;-)!

Makes things so much easier Just love my life things nice and easy ;D not that I would mind reading the same posts twice (at least) just to make sure that I don' t miss a post but it can be a bit time consuming ... . And I can never quite remember which page I was on (can't even remember my own phone number ...)

@neand and everybody else who may wonder how to link to a post: There's a link in the bottom right of each post conveniently labeled "Link to Post". Right-click it and select "Copy link address" or "Copy shortcut" or whatever the command is in English and/or on your system. Paste the address in your message and enclose it with and . If you want it to be replaced by a text, you would write it like this : the replacement text(Delete the extra spaces after "url") Which would give this result : the replacement textThere's as very simple way to find out how a message is written, by quoting it.

hari and amber... thank you. hari I'm good with instructions, provided no step is skipped, and nothing is assumed... and in my case... nothing should be assumed... when you indicated that I should remove the space between url and the =, it was evident that you understood you were dealing with a real CATC, and I'll be forever grateful... for had you not done so, I would have left the space there... thanks again.

I have a question about selecting an avatar. I chose to put in the url of one but it doesn't show up. On the pick an avatar option do I leave that on "none"? And then just write in the url in the following space. And do I have to start with "http"? Thanks.

Hi jazz73, To select your own avatar, you need to leave the drop down box as 'none' and then type or paste in the URL of the picture you want to use (including http://). Hope this helps... xx
