Can I just say that I absolutely 100% love and adore that goofy grin that Kieron has every time he gets good news (like in today's episode where John Paul said 'i love you' or when John Paul told him that he was crazy about Kieron)? It's seriously just the cutest thing ever. I can't help but wonder if that's a character thing or if Jake Hendriks uses it IRL. I feel the same way! Combined with that sexy voice he makes me melt...

I really hope that we get to find out in future projects for Jake Hendriks. Has someone seen this in an interview? I love all of Kieron's smiles, and Jake H. has given him a lot. If you have a chance, check out some of the websites that have put up screen grabs from the episodes, it's incredible how varied some of the smiles are; including his hesitant smile when he came back from Aberdeen last week, or when he's feeling unsure of himself, or when he was lusting after JP before Niall and Steph caught them. JH, like James Sutton, is very good at changing his facial expressions to in order to fit a scene.

I used to look at all the screencaps on the JSF forum, but it's awfully quiet over there lately. And no screencaps anymore... (I'm just a lurker over there and only visit it once in a while for the pictures/interviews/screencaps.) Where do I have to sign up to see screencaps? (All those differents JP/JPC/JPK/K/C boards get me confused. )

It's been a while since we've had a proper Kieron smile. Jake has the sexiest teeth I've ever seen. I usually don't notice teeth, but his seem to be so perfect. I know that sounds silly, but it is just amazing how sexy they look when he smiles.

I don’t know where to post this, as I feel like rambling on more than strictly JP/C or strictly JP/K, so I’ll post it here. Let me know if I'm doing it wrong. Well, I enjoyed it more than I expected. I’m rolling with it, mind and eyes open. Funny though that the one that I found most natural and just “flowing” was Craig. I really think he found Gandhi, Vishnu or something. I think that JP and K need to face the fact that the marriage thing was just dumb. However you look at it, it was dumb to propose and dumb to accept it. JP now sees it but doesn’t handle it quite the right way, while K just refuses to see it and takes it to mean something else. Which all leads to exactly what I envisioned when I first heard of the proposal spoiler: doom. JP is definitely not handling it well, but at the same time, it’s difficult to be too sorry for either character, as I just think it was so stupid in the first place. I think people spent so much time focusing on Craig being immature in the JP/C relationship that they forgot that JP also has quite a lot of maturing to do. Just because he dealt faster and more easily with his sexuality than Craig doesn’t necessarily make him that much mature or older than his actual age. Not everything gets solved because you’ve accepted who you are and are in a relationship with someone who has as well. Other parts of him still have to grow. Still, I don’t think any of those characters is necessarily acting childish. Love, human emotions and relationships are always complicated, and there are always mistakes along the way. I think their reactions actually kind of make sense in light of their particular circumstances and their baggage. JP’s age is showing during this episode… and it’s not really an unrealistic thing IMO. I don’t see what’s so wrong about those characters acting their age. You live, you learn, it might take more than 2 or 3 times, but it’s life. The problem is that people get hurt in the process and along the way. I’m just glad JP realizes that it was a stupid idea to propose and rush the wedding. Late, but glad anyway. Same as I don’t think K’s reaction is all that immature either. One needs to consider the characters’ particular circumstances before casting judgment on their behavior IMO. This might be the only love relationship he has ever known. No matter what his age is, he’s in it without much experience; it’s understandable that he would feel let down. It’s one thing to be able to advise people as a priest, but when you’re in that spot for the first time, it’s difficult to get that much perspective. Also, K knows what it’s like to be “engaged” and how serious it is; first the Church, now JP. JP should have probably considered that when asking K to marry him so flippantly, but again, that might show JP’s age, as well as how very young their love really is. How much about K does JP really know in the grand scheme of things? Engagement is something K is very familiar with, and when he does it, he’s heart and soul into it. Without it meaning something, he might feel like his world is fleeing from him. No wonder he feels heartbroken to find out only now about JP backing down (and keeping it from him for so long) and then seeing him hug his first love. If there were no jealousy involved on K’s part – or no Craig at all, they might be rational about it, and be able to get past it while staying together. Oh well, I like my characters flawed, not perfect or Saint-like anyway. I also get awesome acting performances out of it to boot, which is what I was hoping. One thing that struck a chord particularly in this episode is that it would have been really great to see K learn from this first real romantic relationship too and understand that maybe leaving the Church wasn’t/shouldn’t just be about doing it for one third person, but for himself. Maybe see if the Church still looks appealing after it’s over with JP. Oy, the possibilities that will never be. Shame. Anyway, good epi. No denying, the chemistry between the actors is still very much there, even when not dealing with heavy heart stuff. This brings me to my favorite moment, when Darren was talking about Craig’s colonic irrigation and JP’s priest. The look on Craig’s/Guy’s face especially was so priceless, I’m still laughing. He looked mortified! I watched that scene too many times. It kind of called back the lighter friendship aspect of their relationship of old. Good to see him back for a bit. The pacing has been kind of shaky, but I don’t really feel like I don’t recognize the characters either considering their circumstances. At least it doesn't hinder my enjoyment as much as I apprehended so far. If there’s a soap I can forgive a few things, it’s this one. Having great and natural actors helps. I’ll just see how it goes from here. Additional notes: Darren is awesome. Even when he’s being a jerk, he’s awesome. And Barry is just a great actor; sometimes I wish he weren’t so good and his character so far gone. Rambling over.

Macari, the Gen Disc is so folks don't have to pick a shippy thread to post their thoughts on the eps. It's the Swiss thread, so you're all good posting here. There is also the blog if you want to post thoughts on the episode. I tend to post on both. ETA, bringing over some thoughts of mine from TGODT blog: I thought the clips were good. It was nice to see the return of Craig though it felt rushed. Darren was hilarious in his attempts to keep folks from finding out about Jack. I don't have more to add to the C/JP/K stuff cause I want to see more of it play out but kudos to all three actors (and to Barry for his Magnificent Bastard portrayal of Niall) for a great job in the episode!

macari, I agreed with just about everything that you said in your post above. All the characters in this triangle are flawed and have made mistakes. If they hadn't then, the soap would be boring and no one would watch. It is their bad judgment that makes them compelling characters.
Like I said in the blog comment section, Craig's return lived up to the hype. It played out tons better on the screen than the brief spoiler description. John Paul has to be honest about his feelings and think about what he wants and doesn't want. I think that just seeing Craig has shocked him on an emotional level. John Paul and Craig were holding back a lot in that first meeting. There were obviously a lot of things that they both wanted to say, but didn't because of Kieron mainly.

The Ch. 4 September 3rd airdate clip: gaydaytime.blogspot.com/2008/09/hollyoaks-03-09-2008.htmlThere is also a pt 3 to the clip that wasn't on TGODT blog: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqetkba38Ao === For some reason, pt 2 is saying unavailable so I can't watch on my phone thus I can only comment on pt 1. Craig was definitely telling JP that he knows exactly what he gave up when he left for school by leaving him but Craig wasn't ready then like he seems to be now. He seems more mature now, but I am not going to jump the gun but it's promising. Old Craig would have totally manipulated the situation to his advantage. John Paul obviously missed Craig's implication considering he's still torn up over his wedding doubts and how Kieron is hurting right now. Poor Kieron. Now I just need a functioning part 2!

I’ll just see how it goes from here. I edited down that great post merely for length. I agree with it all 100%! I very much recognize the way Kieron is reacting now. If you go back to the episodes where they first slept together - a lot of the same insecurities. Back then, it was the idea of Craig coming between them, now it's his actual presence, combined with the regret, at least on JP's part, of a rushed proposal. Just envision that scene (from the post-sex epis) where Kieron is holding back tears asking (in that wonderful Kieron whisper) why JP couldn't come to his decision before K broke his vows. Very true to the character we're seeing this week, in my opinion. Plus, I love that we get to see the character flaws (indecision, regret, perhaps) in JP. He is, as Mercedes would say, perceived as the golden boy. But (putting in spoiler text because it's Wednesday's epi that I watched Tuesday, out of respect for Wednesday watchers?) wanting to reach through the computer, grab him and shake the "No it's not over! Tell him it's not over! Why are you just standing there" out of him right before Kieron left ... and then seeing him sob in Michaela's arms? That's good stuff. I could do with about two more months of that instead of just a few episodes (end) ETA and slightly off topic - what is the etiquette on Hollyoaks and the epis getting preview the day before? If it's been posted, is it "fair game" for non spoiler? Like I've said, the Braveheart Avatar scares me

The other is that John Paul wasn't ready to face Kieron and talk about the situation and wanted some time before dealing with it... and possibly a sympathetic ear.
