I think he is doing a good job with his image to his film. He is avoiding comparisions and it will be easier even for Noah fans to get into the storyline with this looks.
From a personal perspective a prefer his looks on ATWT, or even better i prefer how he looks in real life, he usually wears nice clothes an looks really great (the wardrobe department of ATWT is not the best, and Van and Jake are not very lucky with them)

This is just an interesting tidbit Paul James (who plays Calvin on Greek) went to college with and is friends with Jake. He mentions it in this interview from a couple years ago. I think it's lovely because they are both so secure in their roles and have such lovely gay positive things to say and they are so articulate about why their parts are important for gay youth. rodonline.typepad.com/rodonline/2008/04/is-greek-star-p.htmlThere is more Paul James over at Out.com, where Shana asks the actor about his new on-screen boyfriend, "Veronica Mars" and "Ugly Betty" alum Max Greenfield, whom he describes as a personal friend for the past three years. Paul also follows up on a promise about some mouth-to-mouth action. INTERVIEWER: You didn't get any kisses last season?PJ: No, we didn't have any! I hear that they're going to work up to it. It's funny -- the guy from As the World Turns, Jake Silbermann, is a friend of mine too. I went to college with him. I know they're getting a lot of flak for [the gay characters not kissing]. It's definitely a different situation over here. It's not a network thing, and it's not a creator thing. Sean is just making sure that it's not this event, like a marketing campaign, like, "First gay kiss!" That's cheap. He wants it to be something that happens naturally for the character.

Well, it seems that Nelson Branco didn't hate Jake anymore, he is his number three on the last year's most improved actors ranking (not bad after all the bashing)
3. Jake Silbermann (Noah Mayer, As The World Turns) Despite his insane popularity as one half of soaps’ first groundbreaking same-sex super couples, Silbermann was lazily riding on his looks and chemistry opposite his much more talented on-screen partner, Van Hansis, for far too long. But this past year, the often-paralyzed Silbermann saw the light when Noah lost his eyesight. Silbermann didn’t rely on soap opera clichés like histrionics to portray Noah’s blindness, but an array of brave acting choices that resulted in Noah finally becoming a real, viable soap character we could relate to. While he still has a lot of learning ahead of him, Silbermann surprisingly held his own as Noah struggled to adapt to a new, scary world.

There was one cliché that was used, on that I really hate, but it was probably more about the directors than Jake. I hate when actors feel that the only way that the audience will realize that their characters are blind is if they don't look in the general direction of the person who is talking to them. Of course someone who is blind won't look directly at someone, but it makes no sense to have them looking in the opposite direction.

Jake is on the top four of this years soap hunk's adonis. This year Van didn't make the final (he would make it if it was for voting, but this year only the most voted of every show was on the final, and the rest were chose by judges). Jake was very near to win last year, i wish he will do it this year (and end James Scott reigning)

I just saw a video of Van and Jake in Paris talking about the blindness, and it made me want to reread the article that mentioned Jake’s handling of it which I’d seen here, and I stumbled on this post as well. It’s funny how the one thing that Jake gets criticized for while playing blind was not his doing. Van and Jake explained how ridiculous it was that every time Jake was trying to turn closely to where the voice was coming from as he had observed with actual blind people, he was interrupted and actually told not to look in the direction of the person who was talking to Noah. Poor guy. And they even mention the ridiculousness of Noah not having any bandage on his head post-surgery. These guys should have just written for the show it seems.

He ends third this year in the soap hunks adonis contest. Not bad for someone who barely appears on screen on the last months

Good interview with Jake aside from an asshole in the comments section. Interesting to see how he sees the triangle. I still don't, but hey, it's different for everyone. It was enjoyable to read his take on things and his plans for the future.

Thanks for the link. I’ve probably mentioned this before, but having read his interviews with others and this one, sometimes I wonder what this interviewer wants to get at or stir up. I also love how he makes it obvious that if it weren’t for numerous fans asking for it, he probably wouldn’t have interviewed Jake for his take. Some of his questions have just been off putting to me. Too bad Jake seems like the least ready to take any bait. He stays very simple, professional and classy. I think his expressions of surprise or lack thereof in a couple of places were enough to infer quite a few things without saying too much. You really get the impression he was surprised that he (in terms of airtime) and fans (in terms of storyline) kind of got screwed over. He desperately wants the fans to be happy though, doesn’t he? I don’t think TPTB cared as much unfortunately. Oh, and Jake, you guys can all agree on this all you want, but no, still not a triangle. But he might have managed to give even more for fans to desperately look for ending clues with some of cryptic and not so cryptic words.

Basically his readers had to goad him into having Jake on. Yea, no triangle. I wonder what their def of a triangle is. Certainly isn't any where near the usual soap triangle, IMO. Hell, one of the guys was out for 2 months, well almost 3 if you go to the end. I think he does. I still think deep down, neither Jake or Van are happy about the ending, for the fans. They are just putting on a good face because they are nice people.
