The reviews of the show are incredibly bad (at least here in Spain)

This show was SO bad and the gay storyline got the least amount of screen time of anyone. The lesbians got more screen time, same with the trans and her lover. I don't have many nice things to say about this show. I could have stomached it if the gay storyline was better, but the gays were both secondary characters, and seemed like an afterthought. Of COURSE they couldn't make any of the main characters gay. At the end it looked like maybe one of the guys would turn out to be bi, but that went nowhere too. I don't expect this show to make one of the main characters bi or even gay if it gets a second season. The lesbians got how many sex scenes... like 3? And they were all explicit, of course. Fuck this shitty show and it's shitty gay storyline. No way am I happy with this. They didn't have the balls to make any of the main characters bi or gay. They pussied out. Such a shame. Once again another show disappoints on the gay front. Oh well. On the bright side this show will probably get cancelled at it was panned hard.

I'll be surprised if it's even renewed for a second season, unless they filmed two seasons back-to-back. (If that's the case, then Eloy is definitely not part of s2.) It's only like Number 10 in terms of viewership in certain countries, critics have absolutely savaged it, and Netflix is really tightening its belt about new commissions due to their financial situation.

The reviews were painfully bad, but the show was number 1 in Spain

I think what now, is also a part of the opinion, for a decision into get a new Season is, from which country it is the Show and how cheap, how the cost and benefit, is the production. But the region weights now more, than in the past. And the show looks cheap in production, at least at first site.
Since a few months, must every Streamer Client, no matter which one, in the EU, also now in the Switzerland, per law, from the salesmoney they get, at least 3-4 % reinvest into the movieindustry of the country.

New season baby! Can't believe this got a new season yet they canceled The Society, which was much better. Oh well. Hopefully this means more Orson and Eloy in season 2.

Yeah the renewal and then cancelation of The Society was so upsetting. I can see the parallels here to this show, but The Society gave their gay couple a lot more airtime and character development. Hopefully WtE will do better by theirs in season 2.

This was the one show where I thought the gay sex was almost gratuitous. The gay characters had so little screentime, but still got the hottest sex scene.

Carlos posted a cute Insta story with the guy who should have been his love interest. It was a cop out to have two non-main characters as gay. They had so little screen time. Meanwhile they made Zoa, another main character, lesbian. Of course. Not only that, but the guy played the piano, he was sensitive and his father was abusive. Yet the writers decided to make him straight... wtf?! There were so many hints he was gay or bi yet nothing came of it. It was weird. I hope for a love triangle in the second season. Doubt it will happen though. That scene where Eloy taught him sign language was cute af. They had great chemistry. Hope to see more of them next season.

SPOILERS:
YIKES. I don't know what to say about this season other than what the actual fuck?!?! The gays got the least amount of screen time of anyone. Ibon coming out was overdue, but why the fuck didn't he come out in season 1? They had him as a sensitive piano player whose dad saw him as weak and a sissy, yet he was still straight?! Made no sense. He should have come out in season 1, not season 2. The new season was a hot mess. It's not just the fact that the gays got little screen time, it's also the fact that they didn't get a story. Fucking hell... even Eloy and Orson got a story despite only having like 3 scenes together last season. Eloy was away for half the season, very convenient if you ask me. It's clear these writers din't give a shit about their gay (male) characters. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE wanted Ibon and Eloy as the gay male couple, so why the hell did they pair him with Orson?! Made no sense. The lesbians got a decent story though, of course. Oh yeah... and then there's the fact that they LITERALLY just killed one of the gay (male) characters). Ibon was a fan fave, AND he was a main character. They couldn't have killed off Orson instead? He never gave a shit about ELoy anyway. Ibon actually cared about him. There are two things I never forgive in tv shows: killing gay characters and having gay characters sleep with women (unless it's part of them discovering themselves, then it sorta makes sense, but not after coming out). I will say one thing though: there were some hot gay sex scenes, including a threesome, but it didn't make up for the rest... which was shit. This show is dead to me.

There are two things I can't forgive when it comes to gay storylines: a gay man sleeping with a woman after coming out (you would think it doesn't happen anymore, but it does, for some reason), and killing off gay characters. This show literally killed off one of its gay characters. It's unforgivable. I can't support a show that contributes to "bury your gays".

They keep promoting Zoa as a central character, of course they're going to focus on her and her relationship more. Even though I think their story sucked this season, so I wouldn't really call it decent lmao. As for Eloy and Orson, they were basically background characters in season 1, this season was much better when it came to their individual screentime (still not enough tho, I agree). Orson and Ibón had much more chemistry in my opinion, I'm glad they went there. But I really couldn't tell if I liked the idea of Orson/Ibón, Orson/Eloy or Eloy/Ibón more. I wish they focused on that idea more. They just gave them a threesome scene and called it a day. I really think Eloy/Ibón would be amazing, they wasted the build-up. Also I don't think complaining about killing gay characters is even worth here, that's what the show is about. They killed multiple (even main) characters last and this season. Sucks that they did it after Ibón was finally somewhat happy, but everyone's life is at stake in a show like this.

Well, there are several articles in Spain about how difficult it is to understand why this show is a big hit (basically because it is a mess, and it was a mess from the beginning)

Well, there are several articles in Spain about how difficult it is to understand why this show is a big hit (basically because it is a mess, and it was a mess from the beginning) I don't get it either. It really isn't a great show. The story is weak and the gay storyline barely gets any screen time. I want to watch gay love stories. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind sex scenes, but I want both. sex scenes AND a good gay love story. I have to admit the sex is one thing Welcome to Eden did right, at least they didn't have neutered gays. On the other hand... the gays didn't really get a storyline. I also find it weird that Orson and Ibon hooked up when season 1 hinted at Ibon and Eloy, I feel like they cheated us out of that couple, because I really wanted them to get together. To be fair, nothing about season 2 made any sense. I wonder if people watch just because of the sex scenes and/or the lesbians. We all know how much men love lesbians. But anyways, I didn't like this season at all. Why can't we get a decent gay storyline, with gay main characters, where they get to kiss and have sex and fall in love. I feel like Welcome to Eden didn't really deliver on that.
