This is a teen show. Three seasons are perfect. I don't want this to end being a ridiculous show like Elite (it's hard to remember that Elite's first season was a pretty decent show).
I liked the second season way more than the first one, and even a quite niche show like this was very successful in a lot of countries.
Netflix is canceling a lot of critics darling shows, so i think it's very good they gave this a third season to give it a closure

My guess his schedule made him too busy to come to the first day of production? He does have a busy music career

I was hoping it might arrive later in autumn/early winter, but it's now confirmed season 3 will only premiere next year.

I love this. The look of contentment in Wilhelm's eyes when he look at Simon in the palace(?)

Nice. I was expecting closer to summer. So March is good.. . I was pleasantly surprised too; like you I was expecting a summer premiere, probably around Pride Month. But I'm puzzled why they can't give us an exact date when they can for Bridgerton, which will only release its third season 2-3 months later. I'm really going to miss the show though. I suppose it's good it has lasted as long as it has, considering the ratings were never actually that good (presumably it was offset by the fact that it was cheap to produce), and at least the showrunners were given enough notice to craft a proper ending. I don't know if any gay teen series is going to last more than 3 seasons. Love, Victor and now Young Royals have both only made it that far. Heartstopper is still in with a chance ... I hope.

Another teaser, but focused on the other characters. Wilhelm appears for just a few seconds and Simon doesn't appear at all

I wonder why they're struggling to give us an exact premiere date in March. Bridgerton has exact dates for both halves of season 3, one in May and the other in June.

For reasons beyond my comprehension they are splitting the season into two parts: the first five episodes will air on March 11th and the series finale a week later on the 18th. https://www.instagram.com/p/C2fE-YMvBwY

I'm actually glad they're doing that. If you release the whole season in 1 day, people quickly move on. If you split season into 2 halves and release the second part months after, then it's annoying and people just simply lose interest after few days. But keeping the finale for another week will make people discuss it actively for the whole week, keeping them engaged till the finale airs.

For me the split is not a problem at all, i'm so slow at watching Netflix shows that i will probably need another week (at least) to get into the final part

Well, I guess it is a given that the fifth episode will end on a massive cliffhanger. Want to bet it is a car accident that mirror the brother and we will have no idea if Wilhelm survived?

Am I the only one who was disappointed by the ending? A gay future king with his male partner by his side would've be so much more meaningful than Wilhelm giving up his spot in the succession because it implies homosexuality is not compatible with leadership.

In regards to the ending, I think it make sense for the characters we been shown all series long. To force a gay king/male consort ending would require changing the characters of both Wilhelm and Simon. Wilhelm had never handled the pressure and restriction of being a prince even from the first episode. I think if Erik had lived and Wilhelm could have done his royal duty quietly in the background, he probably could have forced himself to handle it. But the added pressure of becoming Crown Prince almost had him at a breakdown at times. So while I agree that a gay king with a prince consort would have been more meaningful, it would require starting with very different characters.
Personally, in my own head-canon for after the ending of the show, The Queen would confer a dukedom or what other title she can to Wilhelm. She cares for her son, and it would make sense that she would want to give him all the advantages and protection she can. This way, Wilhelm can have the privilege and income of the dukedom, but won't be under the restriction of being a working Royal.
