It was a good movie, but FAR from prefect. The first half was very good, romantic and funny. The second half was boring and we didn't see any romance at all. And it wasn't very funny either. Oh yeah, and the Sundance version had 6 kisses. The cut version I saw (and I assume all of Europe) only had two kisses It was just not a great movie. I'll give the first half 8/10 and the second half 4/10, that means the whole movie deserves a 6/10. I agree that the lack of interaction between the two in the second half of the film was annoying, but i think it had to be that way to stay true to the real life story. I think it is a really sad story, since they actually did only get to spend a small part of their lives together and real life Steven Russell is still in solitary confinement in prison.

LOL. It's already on dvd here.. It did very well in the movie theatres too actually. It was packed when I saw it, and I remember that it made the #2 spot in Norway, only beaten by Kick-Ass. I think it did better in Norway than anywhere else in Europe, which is kinda weird, but still awesome

"I Love You, Phillip Morris" is The Gayest Movie Ever Made by Straight Men by Michael Jensen, Editor November 29, 2010 Given that I Love You, Philip Morris is one of the gayest high profile movies ever made, it would be easy to assume that gay men must somehow behind its journey to the big screen. After all, it took Gus Van Sant, Dustin Lance Black, Bruce Cohen and Dan Jinks to get Milk, another passion project, made after years of work.
But that isn’t the case with I Love You, Philip Morris. It is actually two straight men – Glenn Ficarra and John Requa – who fell in love with the story and then persevered long enough to not only get the movie made, but to finally find a U.S. distributor so American audiences could see a love story about a gay con man and the love of his life.
But for Ficcara and Requa, who shared writing and directing duties on ILYPM, the gay part of their movie is almost incidental – which isn’t to say they try to hide the movie’s gayness in any way. In fact, that couldn’t be further from the truth.
It’s just that these two men live in a world where they don’t see a distinction between gay or straight. For them, ILYPM is simply a love story they had to tell. And that American audiences need to see.
AfterElton caught up with Ficarra and Requa to discuss their progressive view of the world, the movie’s tortured journey to release, that gay sex scene, working with Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor and much more!
