Another webseries from the Philippines (and boy am I getting good at remembering that the Philippines is spelled with 1 l and has 2 p's near the end). This one has posted just a teaser on their channel so far. Not sure when it will start airing. Both leads are really hunky Teaser: Their synopsis of the show: and a link to the channel: www.youtube.com/channel/UC55Yhi0p2HMQl7wljpwOmog/aboutMydramalist has a page for it already: mydramalist.com/67967-lakan (the photo section looks like the Filipino version of an old Abercrombie & Fitch Catalog - and frankly the music in the teaser reminded me of the aggressive dance beat that blasted your ear drums when entering one of their stores). They list 8 episodes.

According with the Facebook page, this series might be inspired on Filipino pagan Mythology (or they were just sharing for curiosity).

Interesting. A very different take than all the other BL. Would love to see this successful to inspire more BL that take place outside of schools

I didn't understand a word, but the trailer looks very interesting.

In the comments to the trailer they say that they are working on subtitles - but it seems like they were hoping someone else would do the subs for them, as they told the viewers to feel free to add community subs (which I guess is not possible right now? based on the feedback from viewers on their comments). One viewer did post some translations:

There's English subs now.
Curiosity: the actors are a couple in real life.

The first episode is now out, however there are no English subs yet. There are apparently technical difficulties which have both prevented its premiere on gagaOOlala and caused complications with the subtitles. Hopefully they'll be added soon.

Update from the company:
"To all the Lakan Series fans we are sorry for the inconvenience. We are trying our best to resolve all the technical issues and for international fans don't worry because Lakan Series will have subtitles. Thank you for understanding us and please keep on supporting."
It appears various problems with the production process were caused by typhoon Quinta which prevented needed editing processes, internet connections and members of the team being unable to attend to do necessary tasks. They hope to get everything uploaded by tomorrow including the subs.

The boys are both very handsome - unfortunately a little early to tell if they really have chemistry. Grandma clearly was shipping the two of them when they were holding hands in bed with her between them (probably the strangest sentence I have ever written on this board). Hopefully Grandma will tell them to get their own bed I am not quite sure what is going on with Bulan/Caloy and the girl (his sister? cousin?) and her instant disgust with John was pretty clear. My only complaint is that they filmed this one really darkly - some scenes are hard to see. Sadly this article is in Tagalog, but it does have an English title - the two male leads are a couple in real life! www.pep.ph/guide/tv/153978/paul-cervantes-john-kennedy-nakar-lakan-a4113-20200923-lfrmThis second article only suggests John actor Paul Cervantes is gay and sheds some like on John Kennedy Nakar's ethnicity: villagepipol.com/the-people-behind-lakan-bl-series-bare-how-they-relate-to-the-story/

Another solid episode. The setting is beautiful (as are the guys . The dialog at the end was quite nice - and it is clear that they are both taking the first steps towards trusting each other. I think Luningning and Bighani are meant to be comic relief - but they tend to veer very quickly into overkill territory. Not sure I really needed all the banana jokes or the crude discussion of eggplants. Alfie is very odd - and I was starting to wonder if was part of the supernatural component of the show - that he might be a ghost of some sort. He certainly did a good job in setting John on a collision course with Caloy by encouraging him to drink with the other guys. I will say that Caloy is a saint - Even with no experience with palm liquor, I am pretty sure I would consider regurgitated palm liquor to be a deal-breaker.

I have to say that Ney has her priorities set right - push two cute guys together, let nature take its course, have them take care of her in her old age I really like this show - it is a nice change of pace from all of the Philippine BLs set in Manila or one of the other larger cities. The scenery is beautiful. The use of a water buffalo as a beast of burden was really cool. Alfie not being a ghost was a surprise.

Another beautifully filmed episode - had to be scary to film considering the recent typhoons. I liked the ending with Caloy comforting and holding the feverish John. I half expected Caloy's tribe to wander into the shelter at the end.
