This is in the 5th season, Dillion is a series regular and Elliot just join the show. This is suppose to be Dillion's coming out storyline.

I haven't watched the previous seasons and I understand Dillon's little brother has expressed homophobia, but what did Dillon do? They all seem to be piling on to him and saying he's not changed, when he didn't even express any homophobic thoughts.

Looks like Elliot is going to out Dillon to Ruby. So it looks like Dillon's homophobic father is going to find out.

That really sucks. Why would Elliott betray Dillon's confidence, and why would Ruby think it's a good idea to spread the news to Dillon's homophobic family?

Okay, but obviously Ruby is going to spread it beyond the three of them for it to get back to Dillon's family.
Is next week the season finale?

This story is developing nicely - there is a nice vibe between Dillon and Elliott; Dillon looks more than a little smitten, but Elliott is smart enough to know Dillon isn't in the right head space to start a relationship. Will Elliott return? It seemed like he was attending the same school, so why did they act like he was going away?
The little brother is a POS (and he has form with homophobia) but he did have the good grace to look guilty when their dad kicked Dillon out. I hope he won't spill the beans to anyone else until Dillon is comfortable to do so himself. (I wish he'd come out to Jamie when the opportunity presented itself!) The conflict with the dad seemed to be resolved too neatly, but I presume there will be more to come with 2 episodes to go.

I don't think the conflict with the father is resolved. It seems to be the mother who wants him back, unfortunately the father (i'm speculating because i only watched the videos of the coming out) seem to be the type of dad focused in the success of his sons on sports. Dillon it seems to be the more talented of the two so he puts all the hopes on him (and neglect the little brother which makes quite understable his reaction).
Unfortunately the father is totally right, being openly gay is not an option in a sport like soccer (unless its a veteran player on the verge of retiring and even with that you need balls of steel to come out). Your career depend of too many people. There are more than 2000 men in the major leagues in europe, it's obvious that not all of them are straight. I remember a director of a gay magazine in Spain who said that there's a known soccer player (already retired) who is married to another man, but it's not public. Even after being retired you have to deal with some of the hoolingans (who are quite dangerous, not only to be linked to far right organizations but some of them are even in the crime world). Just to give a clue, both main man in Spain (the president of The league and the president of the spanish federation) are linked to the far right.
I read this year a novel about a gay soccer player, A Natural by Ross Raisin (the author of God's own country) which i find really good and realistic.
Of course this is a teen show, so i expect something a little more light and less depressing

The story is interesting but right now it's totally focused on the main character (who is not exactly interesting, or at least his storyline).
Dillon has not too much to do, but i like they are taking their time. Right now it's confused and upset which i think it'll be the normal phase in someone like him after accepting he is gay

Yeah, even though he's infinitely more interesting than Jamie, Dillon has receded so far into the background since his gay storyline started. I doubt there will be much movement in the final episode of this season which will air next week, but I hope it will be an improvement over this week's episode which was horrifically dull. Before Series BL spliced together the Dillon scenes from the episode I tried watching the whole thing and nearly feel asleep due to Jamie's storyline which seemed pointless to me. Maybe I'm not invested in football at all, much less in virtual football, so I can't see the appeal of an episode set mostly in a dark gaming room or the juvenile antics of a group of pre-pubescent children.
Maybe the BBC is trying to gauge from this season's ratings whether the audience (or their parents) are turning off the TV when the topic of homosexuality comes up, and that will inform how they will handle his story next year (assuming they are renewed for another season). Remember this is a CBBC production aimed at children. There will be the usual conservative parents who will complain about the BBC indoctrinating their kids with the "gay agenda", and there will also be girl viewers who are swooning over Patrick Ward or boys who looked up to him and now don't know how to deal with his homosexuality, especially since there was no real indication of it in previous seasons. I hope the BBC will stick to its guns and give Dillon more airtime (and a love interest) next season, but I won't hold my breath since they are under attack from all sides and might want to play it safe. On the plus side, CBBC did recently air their first same-sex kiss (between two girls) so maybe next year will be Dillon's year for an onscreen boy-on-boy snog.

With this years ratings down 10 percent and a lot of hate on this show for this storyline. If it gets a 6th season I think CBBC will play it safe.

Well, it's quite difficult to blame the gay storyline for the rating getting down because the storyline was reduced basically to two episodes. He is in the background with close to zero screen time since then. The fact that the main character is in an incredibly boring storyline that last forever maybe has something to do with the lack of interest
And this is one of the tamest gay storyline in recent times, no matter if it's a children's show or not

The season finale just aired and it looks like it was the series finale too.
Here are Dillon's scenes, courtesy of Series BL:
I'm glad he was able to come out to his team but I wish there was more time to actually explore homophobia in football, which is a tough environment to negotiate, and also to see Dillon fall in love. It's a happy ending for him, so I'm grateful for that at least, but it feels like they only scratched the surface and resolved the difficult issues off-screen (e.g. Dillon navigating a professional football career as an openly gay player).

A few folks on Youtube are claiming there will be a sixth series and auditions had already been held before Covid-19 intervened, but I can't find any official announcement. I hope they are right because it will be interesting to see how Dillon navigates his sexuality in a football club and falling in love.

I really liked the ending.
And probably i'm in a minority but kind of like it that Dillon's come to terms with his sexual orientation has nothing to do with having sex or a relationship with another boy. I know it's probably because it's a children show (and it doesn't seem to focus at all on relationships) but i found it realistic. In a lot of teenage shows the gay character realize or accept being gay way after having sex or at least kiss another guy, and i don't think that's what happen most of the times, in my oppinion it's the other way around, people accept (or at least realize and be aware) being gay and then the rest happens.
I hope the show was renewed because the subject is very interesting. I think more shows will explore male homosexuality in sports (female one is way more normalized maybe because the level of profesionalism is lower than in male sports among other things).
By the way, i think it would be a good idea if this page makes separate forums for tv shows and webseries because there are so many webseries that sometimes you lose track on tv shows because they end buried below

They've been shooting Season 6 for a while now. The actor of Elliot has been on set as well. Doesn't have to mean anything but both the actor of Elliot and the showrunner liked instagram post asking who wants Dillon/Elliot to happen.
