He always seems to feel the need to take a piss on anything that didn't seem to have anything to do with him or the Brendan Brady character.
It's very interesting though that Digital Spy deemed it fitting to post that article up on the very night, everyone associated (the writers, current/former actors and his beloved set crew) were celebrating the 18 year anniversary of Hollyoaks being on the air.
It's also interesting, that Scalan states that he doesn't want to look back and keep moving forward in his career with new projects, but he can only get press on those new projects, when he continues to let himself talk about Hollyoaks. Like it's some fucking burden on his part.
Thanks for the link.

Talk about class and perfect timing! The one time I actually read an interview of Emmett too. Someone looks to be on as high a pedestal as the one TPTB/fans elevated for his character. Although cringe worthily expressed, I may not have minded the tone or him having a negative opinion on Stug; I wasn't a big fan either, mostly out of concern for the actual character. Still, the fact that he used some of the same words that his character used onscreen makes it all a little spooky at best; we get it, TPTB were/are at his feet no matter what. But beyond ridiculous shipping nonsense, disparaging actual actors just reeks of malice and arrogance, and it's quite pathetic IMO. Anyway, I don't doubt his idolators will make sure to always remind him and everyone that he/Brendan is the show savior who can no wrong and actually speaks the gospel truth, so controversy or not, I'm sure he'll breeze through it as successfully as his character. Thanks for the link, I feel like I now have a pretty full picture in some respects.

If i were him, i will keep my mouth shut. He is very talented, but he won't be the first very talented actor who came back to the soap the make him famous after leaving the show for greener pastures. Acting is a business where luck and good timming is everything, and burning bridges is never a good idea

Other producers directors and writers takes notes of these things. Talent only gets you so far in this business,he should have learnt that lesson by now.

Why would he feel the need or think to shut up about his goal to not fail in his pursuit to get away from just being known as Brendan Brady? This isn't the first time that he's come across like this in interviews and sadly, this won't be the last time. Digital Spy's soap journalist and their editor understands that ANYTHING remotely associated with that man, brings hits/viewers to their site and he uses that site, to keep his name out there.

Oh no, i think he has all the right to talk about his projects and he was right searching for bigger things, but that condescending tone is not exactly good because bigger towers have fallen, and you never know what the future can bring, so better keep all your doors open. Specially when the show did a lot to promote him. And yes, i know, he was a fan favourite, but it would be so easy to get rid of his character no matter what fans wanted.
I think a lot of ex soap actors have a lot to learn from Julianne More. She is a fantastic actress and yes, she totally trancended her soap begginings (in fact i think a lot of people just don't know that she started on ATWT), but she had no problem to come back for a little stint when ATWT was canceled. A little gratitude never killed anybody

Congratulations to Hollyoaks for winning 'Best Soap' at the British Soap Awards tonight. Yes, you read that right..... Yup. They also won for the following: Best Villain for Anna Massey Sexiest Man for Danny Mac (who I believe is a repeat winner from last year) Best Younger Actor for Ellis (the young teen actor who portrays Tom) I'm glad that the entire cast from 2013 was there to celebrate their contributions to the show for getting acknowledged. It's funny though. The awards season from 2012 to 2013 certain viewers/folks, who were doing multiple voting, showing others how to do the same thing, by creating more than 4 or 5 dummy emails were applauding their efforts in getting Hollyoaks FIVE WINS are NOW saying that things should be changed. Too hilarious.

Too hilarious. While I personally find Hollyoaks unwatchable at the moment, I do get it's appeal, it fast food entertainment lots of drama twists and turns but no heart or soul to it's character or story. But Congratulations to them anyway. HA HA !!! - Their outrage is laughable
