I suggested earlier in the thread that making a separate thread for Tessa didn't seem worth the effort. The shows are very similar. I think Bilal, that you should feel free to talk about either show here. If people would prefer a separate thread for Tessa - then I guess I can start one.

The thing is Tessa is a remake of Rita with minimum change, so it would be redundant to make a new topic for Tessa. Maybe a mod can change the topic to Rita/Tessa?

I haven't watched the original Rita, so I thought this was a pretty cute show and I enjoyed the gay storyline. It's too bad it won't return for a second season, it would've been interesting how they might diverge from the original storylines.
On the shallow side - the actor playing David is stunning! I also liked Rico - at least his involvement in Jasper's story, since I can't comment on other aspects of his life - the scene in the gay club was in equal measures sweet (taking Jasper there) and funny (all the gays fixating on him, and him obliging by unbuttoning his shirt). I found him cool for a straight guy.
I hope someone will make post the original Rita storyline of Jeppe though.

I didn't know, I was waiting for more  Even though this storyline gave me a lot of cringes (there was awkward and illogical moments) it was not bad. Rita had 3 seasons and they announced the 4th season last month. For Tessa, yes, it only had one season |

Yeah, the wedding is the end of season 1 for both versions of the show. The actor playing Jasper made him a little sweeter than Jeppe in Rita. I liked it. In general, it looks like everyone did a good job with Tessa. Why did it get canceled while Rita is getting a 4th season? Probably due to Mille Dineson.
Jasper/Jeppe's story line is only a small part of Tessa/Rita, so if you watched just the YT postings of Jasper's story line, you haven't really seen Tessa/Rita. It's a good enough show that it's worth watching the whole thing, if you can.
Rita had some scenes with Jeppe that Tessa didn't include for Jasper. Maybe Nomad missed them. My favorite one is a scene where Jeppe is in a sex education class (which of course is about heterosexual sex) and the teacher calls him out for not paying attention. One of the students says Jeppe doesn't need it because he's gay. The teacher warns that student not to throw insults. Jepps confirms that he is indeed gay, but the teacher refuses to believe it because if he was, he says, he would be getting bullied. The other students try to convince the teacher that they really don't care that Jeppe is gay, but the teacher refuses to believe that is possible. I thought it was an interesting portrayal of how attitudes have changed between the generations.

I read online that the ratings weren't good enough for the NPO even though they article said that the ratings were actually pretty decent for a thursday night series. I think there were 900.000 viewers on average and that for a country with 17 million people is not that bad, but I guess they were aiming for 1.1 mil. |

Unlike Tessa, it does make significant changes to the plot. Not always for the better in my opinion, but at least it's different. French Jeppe is called Hugo, his story is a little more drawn out and angsty than in the original. The actor is Valentin Byls.
He's very cute - here he is in this in-character behind the scenes extra promo thing with French Ricco (Alexandre) in the background:
Anyway it seems the show was a success in France as they're currently making a second season, even though the director of the first one passed away and they've had to replace the main actress who declined to return.

Any idea where we can watch the French Sam and the other remake, Tessa?
Rather liked Rita as a whole, not just Jeppe and it would be nice to see the story from other angles .

Just watched it. Yup, it's definitely quite different from the original. It focuses heavily on Sam and the other characters don't really have their own storylines. Season 1 briefly shows Hugo coming to terms with his sexuality and having a crush on his neighbour (who turns out to have a girlfriend) and that's it. Valentin Byls is a cutie though! Hopefully, Hugo will have a love interest in Season 2. Sad that Mathilde Seigner is not returning as Sam though  |

Jeppe's still a virgin right? That's partly why he's so perturbed by his mum having sex while he has a hot boyfriend he's not done it with?
I really want to see the French take on his story, especially since it deviates from the original. And yes, the actor playing Hugo (and the brother) are attractive.
