I liked Archie's song. The music on this show is well done and an extra treat. As is the art direction. I also like that they are taking the time to give every character, including the adults, some kind of story. And although I like the way Kevin is written, I don't like how little he is used. Hopefully the story they've set up for Kevin will start to play out. Judging from the comments I see around the web, most people watching Riverdale are doing so for Cole Sprouse. A LOT of people grew up watching him and his brother. He is an appealing actor and so I think it's possible this show could become Jughead and gang eventually.

I am thrilled to hear about a second season, I was really afraid that it wouldn't been renewed with the ratings sinking each week. Poor KJ Apa really needs a break. Hopefully they will write Archie more appealingly next season. And please promote Kevin to a regular; Casey Cott is great and it's a crying shame he has no storyline. No more gaybaiting please - "Kevin's storyline really kicks off in episode 4" - yeah, right! He got a kiss in that episode and zilch after that.

A second season may have been pre-ordained regardless of ratings due to the Nextflix deal. I don't really have a problem with how appealing Archie is since he's supposed to be a socially clumsy f**kboy, but having him isolated from the show's main plot baffles me. I kind of wonder if Kevin scenes keep ending up on the cutting room floor because there is so much going on with so many characters. It's a big mistake by the show not to give him more screen time because I think Kevin could draw a lot of viewers to the show if he was more than a set decoration.

Although there was a twist in Kevin and Joaquin's storyline at the end of ep 8, the lack of Kevin scenes still pissed me off. One more time, CW has proved that they have sucked on potraying gay characters or their storyline.

Yes, it is massively disappointing that their entire relationship has played out offscreen. How do they expect people to get invested when you only have the beginning and the end of a relationship shown on screen?
I am certain the CW is to blame, but what really pisses me off the most is how the cast seems to have been complicit in gay-baiting us. Remember how they said at conventions that they all wanted to play the Kevin character? I cannot imagine they genuinely believe Kevin's role is better than theirs. The character is a non-entity and his romance has taken place offscreen. The show's creator (a gay man) mentioned Kevin as one of the characters he'd like to do more with in season 2, but I won't hold my breath. Between the CW and Archie Comics, I doubt his paymasters are going to let that happen.

They might be filming more Kevin scenes than are making it into the final cut. In which case, the actors wouldn't be fully aware of how small Kevin's role was going to turn out to be. I thought the scene at the Serpent's bar was a missed opportunity for some Kevin scenes since Kevin and his two love interests were all together. There could have/should have been some jealousy from Moose if he has a thing for Kevin, which he supposedly does. Again, maybe such scenes were shot, but left out. Hopefully Kevin won't get crowded out so much in season 2.
The twist they revealed should lead to more scenes for Kevin during the remainder of the season as its consequences play out. Perhaps Kevin will be in danger and Moose comes to his rescue. I would like that.
Overall, the disappointing Kevin screen time hasn't spoiled my enjoyment of the show. At least Kevin always has great lines. My one pet peeve is that I don't think Archie has directed a single word to Kevin all season. I hope that changes.

Archie has made out with pretty much every female character so maybe next he should smooch Kevin? Kidding, although that would be hot. Still feel cheated of the gay kiss KJ's character on Shortland St dodged.
But it is indeed a crying shame Kevin is sidelined and I am doubtful the situation will improve within this season. It's hard to feel invested when so much of his story takes place offscreen. You are right that it was surprising Moose didn't even comment on Kevin's new bf. He didn't have to be jealous but not even an offhand remark? Hmph. Maybe next week, when they have the drunken/drugged birthday bash for Jughead, we might get some inconvenient truths. At the very least we get shirtless Archie, of which there has not been nearly enough for the past month.

Joaquin doesn't have a bf. In that scene, he was talking about Kevin, and J replied : "His father, you mean?" = Kevin's father. I really think Joaquin has feelings for Kevin. But the writers really ignored Kevin-Moose storyline? I mean, why did they bring that up in the first place if they dont do anything with that detail? It makes no sense to me. BTW, Kevin and Joaquin kissing scene was so ........HOT

I also think Joaquin has feelings for Kevin. Kevin is probably going to get his heart broken, though. Maybe then Moose will come back into the picture.

Last week was Moose's last episode so I don't see him coming back into the picture this year and Joaquin has 2 episodes left.

I sort of think Moose will be end game for Kevin, playing out in a slow burn over several seasons. But who knows... maybe Joaquin will end up being the one who truly loves him.

Moose has a well-documented, long-running romance with Midge in the comics, although she's not been seen onscreen. It's possible that they rewrite his endgame as Kevin, but so far there aren't any clues towards that. Moose was not even slightly jealous when he saw Kevin and Joaquin together, and during the party he was making out with Cheryl.
I think the K+J makeout scene in the 4th episode was hotter. Casey kept his lips firmly closed here, which really stuck out like a sore thumb.
We see Archie drunkenly dancing shirtless during the opening voiceover, but it doesn't happen during the party scenes. Hmm. After keeping him clothed for an entire month, that was disappointing.

There were some Kevin and Joaquin scenes in the 11th episode. They didn't kiss, but we did see them slow dancing together. Someone has framed Jughead's father for the murder of Jason Blossom and it appears to be Joaquin who did it. I'm not sure what his motive is.

When Kevin's father arrived at the dance and Kevin ran off to see what was going on, there was a long, lingering shot of Joaquin, who looked like he knew a lot more about what was happening than he should have. I'm pretty sure Joaquin was involved in the framing of Jughead's dad. The still photo doesn't show how they kept the camera on him as he walked out of the frame. He's guilty, IMO.
