Natalie's younger brother Oliver, 34, has lived his life like a man in hiding. When he came out to his parents at 15, they tried to accept him as best they could, but he chafed against even wanting their approval. A troubled young man, he fled Montreal to become a painter in Los Angeles, where he’s lived for over a decade with a much older boyfriend, in a complicated relationship that’s been hard for him to manage. Because of this, and also Oliver’s issues with mental unrest – his career has never quite taken off. He returns to Montreal to help Natalie, determined to keep the messy details of his private life in LA to himself.
