Verliefd op Ibiza ( Loving Ibiza) is a new Dutch series based on the movie with the same title. The movie was a big success earlier this year. It wasn't high culture, just fun. It was decided to make a sequel in the form of a TV series. The first episode will air on October 26. Here's a trailer of the movie with English subtitles: A lot of the characters from the movie will also be part of the series. There are also going to be new characters. This is a good thing, because there weren't any gay characters in the movie. It has been confirmed that two of the new characters will be gay and involved with each other. Geza Weisz (left) portrays the role of Marco, a soccer player. Marco has a big secret. Can you guess what it is? Kees Tol (right) plays Marco's physical therapist Ernst. Ernst is gay. Marco will be in a relationship with Stella (played by Georgina Verbaan). Stella is a reality show star who's broke. She's looking for a new rich man in her life and is very happy when Marco is interested in her. I really like Geza Weisz. He's a good actor. This will be Kees' acting debut so I'm going to wait and see. But either way, more gays on TV is always a good thing. Part of the cast: Louis Talpe (DJ LO-tus), Sanne Langelaar (Suus), Rick Engelkes (Lex), Marly van der Velden (Bibi), Manuel Broekman (Sjoerd), Geza and Kees.

I was sold the moment I saw Louis Talpe was in this show. TV needs more of this gorgeous man since GTST killed off his character.
As for the show, it looks like fun summer fare, which is a tad weird as we'll be well into autumn by the time it airs. But it's great that they'll have gay characters, although I wonder how prominent they'll be, given that they didn't even merit an appearance in the trailer. Or is the trailer focusing on "name" actors?

The actors playing the gay characters are well-known names as well. We'll just have to wait and see. The movie was released in the winter. So the autumn for the series is not that bad.

Wow. Nick and Nina Not Nick, but Mike and Nina. And Lorena (not in the promo). And Sjors (the actress who took over for a couple of weeks). And doctor Simon from years ago. The first love interest of Janine. aAd Hedwig, also a character from years ago. People who don't watch GTST have no idea what we talk about.

But it's great that they'll have gay characters, although I wonder how prominent they'll be, given that they didn't even merit an appearance in the trailer. Perhaps they still had to film most of their scenes when they made the trailer. Anyway, I know they're on Ibiza right now. Their colleague Georgina Verbaan won a Golden Calf (most important Dutch film award) tonight. She tweeted this photo of them watching the livestream: And they're also part of the permanent cast:
So maybe they won't have the biggest roles on the show, I think we'll see enough of them.

Tonight was the first episode, but Marco and Ernst weren't in it. Perhaps next week. I did find this still of them:

^Thanks for bringing this storyline and the translated clip. Really appreciate the effort. By the way, just to check, is it on purpose that the clip is uploaded at such low resolution?

I don't know why the quality is lower when I watch it on my PC. On my iPad the quality is fine.

I just love the feel of this show - it is so light and a bit on the sillier side. It's a nice twist to have a beard who's aware of everything going on while the couple is in the dark about her. Can't wait for the next part. Thanks so much, Mark!
