Well, if we wacth back some things that out celebrities did we'll find a lot of absurdity.
Why Ricky Martin insisted in sing songs about women when in english is quite easy to make songs gender neutral, She's all i eve had, the spanish version, now sound extremely absurd (in english it seems quite easy to change some pronoums, in spanish generally doesn't work that way).
Why Wenworth Miller insisted in every interview about his constant chase of the perfect woman to marry and have children when he was living a gay life (and everybody knew it).
And there are worse examples like Luke Evans, but maybe Evans is not an example because he is "straight" now, he is even dating his female publicist (Rock Hudson style).
The marriage in country doesn't work like in pop music. Most pop stars are single, specially the young ones, being dating is ok, even being engaged but being married it's only ok when you have a good bunch of hits on your back.
On the other hand, most male country stars are married, even the young ones. It's a conservative genre. Merry go round, the fantastic debut song of Kacey Musgraves plays with some stereotypes attached to the small twon mentality that work on country music full time.
Of course a reality show never benefits the image on anyone, but it generates buzz and money. Anyway, even being terrible at faking Will will never be worse than Aaron Rogers and Olivia Munn (Aaron was linked to Taylor Swfit for a brief time, Taylor fake date life is fascinanting beyond belief)
