Man, that Noah is trouble where you least expect it - churchgoing abstinent who's a secret pothead! Haha. I wonder if Jude's next source of angst will be his mothers forbidding him from seeing Noah. I'm just thankful they didn't drag out Jude's "God took away both the boys I loved because He doesn't want me to be gay" phase. That was beyond ridiculous and I'm glad the show had the other characters react as such.
But the flashback to young Jude and Connor made me sad. I know I often roll my eyes at how invested people get in fictional characters' first love interests and demand they should be their OTP, but this one really did feel special, seeing how young they were and how they slowly built up their relationship over adolescence. I still can't believe Jude broke up with Connor over, essentially, a sexy selfie. (I know there was more to it than that, especially behind the scenes, but it played out on screen like that was the driving reason.)

(I know there was more to it than that, especially behind the scenes, but it played out on screen like that was the driving reason.) Did Noah ever claim to be abstinent? The flashbacks made me sad too. Not just because of the loss of their romantic relationship, but because they had such a great friendship. Jude didn't just lose his boyfriend, but his first true friend. The game was a symbol of their friendship, not anything romantic. I think that is part of the reason why Jude is having such a hard time. When you're sad about a breakup you turn to your best friend, and he can't do that. He lost both at the same time. Sure, he has Taylor, but it's not the same.

I thought he said he was waiting for marriage during that church group? I may be mistaken; the setting for that scene made me uncomfortable so I didn't pay close attention. I also felt that was why Jude gravitated towards Noah: because he'd freaked out over Connor wanting to turn their relationship sexual, whereas Noah made sex seem a (very) long way off.

Pastors' sons/daughters are always bad news. Noah didn't say he was waiting for marriage, just that he was going to patiently wait for God to send him a new boyfriend. Seems Taylor beat God to the punch. (Or Taylor is secretly God.) The Jonnor flashback made me sad, too. Noah is cute enough, but the magic is gone. Part of it may be how I feel about Jude/Hayden now. The behind the scenes drama that led to Gavin's exit (and which I only learned about a few months ago) has soured me on Hayden. Few people know exactly what transpired, but it's pretty clear Hayden and his mother (maybe mostly his mother) behaved badly and made it impossible for Gavin to continue. My impression is that the core of what happened is what typically causes drama behind the scenes on TV shows - jealousy and insecurity. I think Gavin was becoming way more popular with the fans than a recurring character is supposed to be - more popular than Hayden, the full-time cast member. What I suspect triggered the drama is Gavin landing his role in that movie and the show runners being willing to work the Jonner story around his schedule. I think Hayden's mother (who is apparently an all-too-typical Hollywood mom) felt that Gavin's star was starting to outshine her son's. From what I can gather, Hayden basically looked the other way as his mother made life hell for Gavin and drove him off. Anyway, now I can't look at Jude the same way. It's interesting that the writers are taking Jude in a darker direction. Maybe they see him differently as well. Of course, it's pretty common for teenagers to start being more annoying than cute as they grow. I can't help but wonder, though, if the writers are planning to eventually get rid of Jude by having him go live with his dad. Then, irony of ironies, they could have Connor come back and end up staying with the Fosters when his dad throws him out.
