I just saw a movie called John Apple Jack, it's a romantic gay comedy. It was so sweet and funny and romantic. I liked it a lot. Definitely worth the watch imo Here's a trailer:

This looks promising - it actually premiered back in March but is still doing the festival circuit:
Synopsis: Sean (Nick Eversman) is taken to a motel and is given a prostitute for his 18th birthday by his father. He must sleep with her to "fix" his questionable homosexuality. Aside from acceptance, "Pretty Boy" is about confidence, finding an inner strength, and being who you are meant to be.

Eddie Redmayne is a truly terrific actor and his performance in The Danish Girl promises to be a real tear-jerker. I know there are already people out condemning the casting of a cisgendered actor in the title role but they really need to give Eddie a chance - I am confident he will do the role justice and then some.

From the trailer alone, it looks like he is already doing a fantastic job. I've only seen a couple of his movies (Les Mis & Jupiter Ascending, I didn't particularly like his character in JA but it was a pretty bad film overall). And people need to get over these kind of things! Agh, so frustrating!

There's more info now available on the TIFF website. High-school student and aspiring special-effects makeup artist Oscar Madly (Connor Jessup, star of the 2012 Festival favourite Blackbird and director of the short film Boy, screening in this year's Short Cuts programme) needs out: out of the Newfoundland town that is stifling his budding creativity, out of his restrictive home life, and out of the closet, where he has fearfully remained after witnessing a brutal hate crime as a young boy. While he finds much-needed support from his best friend Gemma (Sofia Banzhaf) and his pet hamster, Buffy (who talks to him via the voice of the great Isabella Rossellini), Oscar is haunted by horrifying visions of the consequences of revealing his homosexuality — a fear that is compounded by his increasingly judgemental and erratic father (Aaron Abrams). When Oscar meets the handsome Wilder (Aliocha Schneider, a 2015 TIFF Rising Star, also at the Festival in Ville-Marie) — whose cool, carefree rebelliousness and unabashed hedonism make him the embodiment of the unrestrained world Oscar dreams of — he is immediately attracted and utterly terrified. With his fantasies becoming darker and ever more vividly real, Oscar finds that he must break free of the chains that bind him and live a life that is true to who he really is. Wow! It sounds great! Is this movie out already or is there a way to buy the film? Sorry for this awfully late reply. The movie will premiere tomorrow at the Toronto International Film Festival. It will be shown September 13th and September 16th at TIFF. It will also be shown at the Atlantic Film Festival in Halifax on September 18th. I predict the movie will come out on DVD sometime next year in 2016. The Backlot wrote about the movie today: www.newnownext.com/can-this-young-man-and-his-hamster-escape-the-closet-monster/09/2015/Here is an interview with Connor where he talks about the movie: www.metronews.ca/entertainment/2015/09/10/tiff-2015-prepare-to-see-more-of-connor-jessup.html

I finally saw Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List. I liked it. It wasn't perfect by any means. The story is kinda clichéd. But it was still well done. Ely and his love interest had great chemistry, and it was nice to see some character growth during the movie. I'd definitely recommend it!

I thought it was cute but there wasn't enough focus on Ely as much as I wanted there to be. Seeing how he and Naomi were the main characters but she got about twice the screen time as he did. Also, I would have loved to see more interaction with Ely and Bruce. With the exception of a few fleeting tender moments together, not much of their relationship was shown.

I would have liked to see more of Ely and Bruce. That said.. it's so obvious that Victoria Justice was the "star" of the movie, which is why the main focus was on her and her storyline, while Ely's came second. I still think Ely and Bruce's scenes were cute, and they had chemistry. I just wish we'd seen more of them.

Akron trailer:Front Cover trailer: I just watched the clips for these... Akron.... I'm not sure what the plot is! Just seemed like a whole lot of meaningful stares! (and some missing items of clothing). I thought Front Cover sounded interesting. I didn't catch the main guys name but his parents were wonderful!
