This is more for our US members...
I love AfterElton, I love THE BIG GAY SKETCH SHOW... but anyone else want to discuss what a mess the 'LGBT' cable channel LOGO is?
Here's a channel targeted at our community, however, I feel like they deserve a C- for trying at best. They've butchered LATTER DAYS into an incomprehensible mess, they are editing QUEER AS FOLK to a point that makes DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES seem like BASIC INSTINCT: THE TELEVISION SERIES and they make weird 'bleep' choices (I've once seen a movie where they decided that the words 'pubic hair' needed to be bleeped, while they left 'f*g**t' absolutely intact. I don't mind hearing either words in a movie, when there's context, to be honest- but at large: If you were running a gay cable channel, which one would you think would offend the gay community more? Plus, as great as it is- there's only so many times that you can watch TALES OF THE CITY ;-).
Granted, they've done great things- like the presidential candidate debate with the Democrats and their Real Momentum series and willingness to show foreign movies is awesome. But - anyone else a little disappointed?

I don't think I have watched LOGO since Noah's Arc was canceled (yes it was bad but I enjoyed it). Besides, there is always BRAVO for your gay programming.
LOGO reminds me of BET... a channel that was good in theory and started off well but lost its way (thought BET much more than LOGO).

I'm pretty disappointed with the channel, myself.
I don't quite get the bleeping, either - is there an assumption being made that the main audience is same-sex couples with children? We've more or less decided not to waste our time trying to watch movies on LOGO. Between the commercials, cutting and bleeping, it's not worth it.
It seems like every time we turn it on, it's some show aimed at lesbians, like "Bad Girls". Do they even have any equivalent shows aimed at men on LOGO? Not saying the women don't deserve equal time - I just find it strange that there's never anything aimed at gay men on at a time when we're inclined to watch.
Some of the stand-up comedy specials have been fun. We watched a bit of Suzanne Westenhoefer last night - she's a hoot! Kinda hard to believe that it's been nearly 15 years since I first saw her and Kate Clinton performing their sets at the March on Washington. Odd, that - I find I like the female stand-up comics better than the men! But come to think of it, I usually get along better with lesbians than with other gay men, anyway. Must be some kind of common thread there.
The Big Gay Sketch Show doesn't do much for me. More miss than hit, IMO. Talented performers in need of better writers. I have a low tolerance for "over the top" stuff, anyway.
Not a big fan of reality programming, either - regardless of what channel airs them. I didn't get the 'fashion' gene, so I have just about zero interest in stuff about clothing designers or runway models. Don't get me wrong - obviously some people are into it and that's fine - for them. Just saying there isn't much out there of interest to me. I'm more of a Sci-Fi guy - Torchwood, Doctor Who, etc.

I also have made the observation that a majority of its content is aimed at lesbians.
The only gay male content that manages to sneak in is the ever asinine and stereotypical reality shows with frivolous, self-absorbed, rude queens. That, or some meat market type of film. I DESPISE Bravo, what a mental deathknell, talk about pandering to human beings' lowest aspects.
It's not like !here is any better, though. Better movies? Yes. But shows? Terrible; I don't want to even think of Dante's Cove.
What it boils down to is: Bad writing, low budget, and bad actors. Sadly, most worth their salt will end up in mainstream TV.
The only program I've enjoyed lately is Shelter. I'm also tempted to keep LOGO just because of the upcoming Sordid Lives Series; now THAT looks fun.

When we broke down and got cable a bit over a year ago, LOGO was included in the line-up. I was quite curious about it, but quickly lost interest. We moved 9 months ago and, with the new provider, it is only available as part of a premium package. I don't miss it.
When I tried watching a movie it quickly became apparent that they had heavily edited it, and they had too many commercials. I gave up after only a short time. I found many programs personally uninteresting. I also found the mix of programing curiously heavy on programs for a lesbian audience and light on programs directed at gay men. After a few weeks I stopped checking what was on. I little latter I started checking again, wondering if maybe it was just a quirk of the time I was taking a look, but found that little hand changed as far as I was concerned.
I like the idea but, alas, the execution leaves much to be desired. I would venture to guess that they would have a larger audience if they could improve the programing and stop chopping up films. I'd think that a cable channel like this one could show films with very little, if any, editing.

Interesting to find this thread on this channel as I didn't know that non-male viewers would watch contents here.
