Oh shit.
The asshole producer is the actor from the early mid-80s version of Degrassi Junior High. He was Simon who dated the girl who emancipated herself from her family. I KNEW I recognized the actor.
I'm glad that this is a Canadian based production, because they're not sugar-coating the hard BS you're put through when you get out to LA to pursue a career there.

Thanks for the links....Spoiler discussion in white (highlight to read, if you want to) So, Tariq goes into hiding?! I'm glad that he's trying to protect himself, but I'm much more interested in seeing Tariq trying to find his way back from what Kal did to him, then what Kal's going to do to make things "right" for his career and Tariq.

I just finished watching the episode and all I have to say is WOW, It was heartbreaking, I'm not going to spoil it but it's so good. This is my first time watching a full episode, the rest of the characters are boring, but likeable, but the Tariq and Kal storyline is just....beyond.

I have to agree with you on that the Tariq and Kal parts were devastating and heartbreaking to watch. Especially the end with Kal. But the confrontation scene in the office was amazingly acted by the two guys. What I want to know is how they got Tariq's eye to (look) that puffed up? The makeup people must be amazing to do something like that.

I believe I'm going to wait until the entirety of season two has aired before I watch anymore episodes. I truly don't have any sympathy for Kal and I don't want to follow his journey, while we've got to wait to see what's happened with Tariq. I guess domestic violence between gay male pairings is the new "thing" that shows are doing now.

Heartbreaking, both of them. Poor Tariq and poor Kal... As much as I don't approve of Kal and his domestic abuse. His lost of Tariq is his own fault and no one else. It's clear that he's trouble and needs help. Hopefully he doesn't die and is able to get some help. I want to give Tariq a hug, he's suffer so much at the hands of the man he loves. I hope he has a chance to heal and get some help because he doesn't want this weighing him down. I'm glad he didn't take Kal back and said goodbye.

I have mixed feelings about the storyline. I do think that Kal has a lot of remorse for what he did, that in itself is very much different from how Brendan of Hollyoaks has acted. But on the other hand, that kind of violence is never ok. Right now I think I will keep watching as I want to see more of Tariq. I hope that Tariq does not get back together with Kal -- there are plenty of other fish in the sea

This show belongs on the main page, It's doing a better job portraying gay life better than Days of our lives and Glee combined.

I really wouldn't worry about the ratings. It's on the CW and it's a summer series.

The only problem I'm having with the s/l is that Tariq isn't included. Kal without Tariq makes no sense, since it's their pairing which made everything interesting IMO. This is a nighttime soap that should be dealing with the couple instead of only Kal. The show isn't a real-life documentary on down-low hip-hop artists...it's fun and guilty pleasure entertainment. Kal without Tariq isn't interesting to me at all. IMO

That end part where Kal told the Abyss he was gay was so sad. This show belongs on the main page, It's doing a better job portraying gay life better than Days of our lives and Glee combined. I was just thinking that too, but not for your reason. Only because I don't watch either show, so I don't know how gay life is portrayed on either. I do think they should remove Degrassi and put them in other shows and replace it with this. LOL!! Are they could even put it on this page and replace Southland, which I don't think shows anything about Cooper's gay life, but again I don't watch that show either. LMAO!

It was a good thing he was at least trying to get some help. He obviously a very angry and sad young man and he needs a lot of help.
I find those questions that the doctor was asking interesting. Because wouldn't a person who is intent on killing themselves answer no matter what. So they can get release quicker to go and try and kill themselves again? I guess the ones who answer yes are the ones who want help to try and get better.

I wholeheartedly agree with that blogger's opinion. Yes, it's sad that Kal hates himself so much that he tried to commit suicide and that he doesn't have anyone in his life, who actually gives a damn about him OTHER than how much money they can make off of his career, but TPTB are that lacking in creativity and direction that they couldn't show Tariq's situation at the same time?! I know that lots of viewers find Kal fascinating and want to see what happens to him and how he recovers aka is redeemed. I, on the other hand am not, because of all these scenes just gives me the sense that once the show brings Tariq back to the forefront, we won't get anything to show his pov on what happened. That folks will want Tariq to get over his issues, because Kal's "gone through a lot and is now changed" due to it being shown and developed onscreen. That Tariq's Kal's prize at the end of it all. It's just not a balanced and developed storyline, IMO and I just don't think it would be if this was dealing with violence involving female and male characters. It's just odd, off putting and says that the folks who create these storylines see these situations as "different".
