i´m loving this storyline, very much, think it´s pretty good, and the acting is amazing, i love Kal character, and i think he is showing that he intends to change for good, especially in checking how Tariq is doing and living him alone after that, i think he is finally aware that Tariq must be as far as him as he can, to be able to forget and start a new life, after all, it´s what love means, and with this, Kal is showing for the first time that he loves him, leaving him alone....

Thanks for posting that link. I'm actually surprised by his comments, because I was under the impression that his initial issues with the show, was thathe felt they were showing that fictional storylines between two black gay characters could never just be about love and affection without the need to add violence to it. Now, because BOTH Kal and Tariq have been written as being able to show growth by moving on (with others) and being able to let each other go, it's another failure? Because, yet again the harlequin fantasy of an abuser and his violent ways being "changed" due to the victim's love and support for the person that brutalized them in the first place? Isn't Kal showing that his love for Tariq (and himself), by knowing that by what happened in their past could never bring them back ttogether, but also couldn't and shouldn't keep him (and Tariq) from being able to move on and try to find peace with themselves and other men in their lives? Why is it a failure that Kal and Tariq have each moved on and found love with other gay men? Especially after the violent way their pairing ended? Doesn't their ending show a different possibility that, even if you went through something that horrible in your past relationship, that you shouldn't close yourself away from the possibility of a new relationship?

I would love to know why Kaldriq's story ended the way it did. The first season set them up as a potential romantic couple, and ended with the beating. Why did the next season only deal with Kal as if Tariq had never been there? I wonder if it was always planned for it to be Kal's story, or did something happen behind the scenes to take Tariq out of everything. I could care less if Tariq and Kal reunited, but their story was a really good one. It was more than the down-low thing IMO. It was also "opposites attract" like the B&B owner told them in the first season.
I was shocked that the second season shut out Tariq and his struggle in loving a man who was afraid to come out.
These aren't real-life people, they're characters. Kal's beat down and redemption and Tariq's eventual forgiveness would have been great soapy entertainment. IMO.This show is a melodramatic soap, not Frank Ocean's life story.
Kaldriq seemed promising and for a show with the ratings it gets, their romance and interaction was not a bad thing. IMO

I'm just grateful that this was a Canadian based series (not US or even UK), because I'm glad Kal's "redemption" didn't result in him "winning back" Tariq as his lover in the end.
A positive end in my mind, even with it being melodrama fiction and "not the Frank Ocean Story".

I really do love Kal. I know I shouldn't after what he did to Tariq, but I do. Shame on me and OMG at that ending.
Also, I think the new boyfriend fits more with Kal than Tariq did.

Yes, the new boyfriend is exactly what he needs, someone very confident, able to stand his ground and not letting him act like he did in the past. Really good storyline

So the CW (the U.S. channel that aired the original) is thinking about doing a reboot: tvline.com/2018/10/03/the-la-complex-reboot-the-cw/It's been awhile since I have watched any clips from this show, but I remember quite enjoying it - so hopefully they will do the old version justice.
