The problem here was not the ship (wich is rabid for sure) it was Jeff giving them hints that their ship could be canon (when he obviously didn't think for a moment that was possible).
And no, it was not only in the fans minds, Jeff did a great job queerbaiting, something pretty clear in a scene when the Kanima inmobilize Styles and Derek and Matt even make a comment about how cute couple they made.
Jeff said he didn't know about Sterek during the first season, and it's possible, and it's even possible the homoerotism was simply Dylan and Tyler chemistry, but after that i doubt he is that innocent.
I never cared about Sterek, in my opinion there were never any intention to make them a couple (and i didn't see any real hints of them being a couple at all, apart of the chemistry between the actors and some jokes that were pure queerbaiting). I wanted Jeff to develop his gay character instead of focusing the attention in some characters that never were intended to be gay (well, at least not Derek, there were a lot of hints of Styles sexuality not being straight but in my opinion the show will never go there either).
I find pathetic the way of promote the show as gay friendly. Buffy (to use a show of the same style) was way more gay friendly a decade ago. I find annoying the way to promote the show when Davis is unable to integrate a gay character on themain storyline. He thinks that a couple of kisses and a bed scene make the show pretty gay, but it's treating gay characters like the straight ones what make a show gay friendly, and frankly a gay writer should known better

Even though I wasn’t a big or even much of a fan of the show and some things left a lot to be desired, I feel like Buffy in many ways just didn’t get a lot of the recognition it deserved in quite a few respects. Shippers should all move on then, anguishing over it apparently won’t change much and asking the same questions won’t bring a different answer. Oh, the fandom life. Maybe the show could try to finally get it right with new blood (though it probably won’t appease those who want one ship at all cost). But honest question: is the show even really good and well written, as in, if they give it another shot, do people actually expect them to handle it right? Having seen what Ryan Murphy does with his shows, having a gay writer on board doesn’t always mean much at all, lol.

I think some people see what they want to see. I've never seen any real sings that would point to either Stiles or Derek being gay or bisexual. Have you seen TW? There has been a lot of queerbaiting on Jeff Davis' part in regards to Stiles' sexuality. They've given hints since season 1. Why would a straight character ask a gay character if he's attractive to gay guys? Why would they bring a lesbian character back on the show, make her bi and make her ask a straight character if he likes boys as well as girls? His answer to the question? Hesitation... He actually never gave an answer. This scene played out between the straight and the gay character - in the boys locker room: Stiles: Missing and presumed dead, Scott, because he was probably a virgin. You know who else is a virgin? Me. I'm a virgin, okay? You know what that means? It means my lack of sexual experience is now literally a threat to my life, okay. I need to have sex. Like right now. Someone needs to have sex with me like today. Like someone needs to sex me right now! Danny: Alright I'll do it. Stiles: Woah! What? Danny: Come over to my place at 9. Plan on staying the night. I like to cuddle. Stiles: That is so sweet. Are you kidding? Danny: Yes. I'm kidding. Stiles: You don't toy with a guys emotions like that, Danny. It's not attractive, alright?
Playing with his emotions? Dylan O'brien said, after season 3B, that his character isn't gay but they've clearly hinted a lot that he could be bi. Derek only has sex with crazy female killers.

Styles asked if he was attractive to gay guys several times. In last season he was directly questioned if he liked boys and he didn't answer. It's not a fan invention, Jeff Davis talked about Styles sexuality in interviews too, but frankly, it's only a teaser and i don't expect them to go there like never.
And Ryan Murphy shows are far from perfect, but gay characters use to have a prominent role, with all the gay friendly crap, in Teen wolf gay characters are reduced to be token ones to exhibit in interviews and promos. There are shows in the 80's and 90's that did frankly better without the need of a gay writer

For a straight character, Stiles seems to be very interested in what Danny thinks of him and takes offense when he 'toys with his emotions'. I don't know a lot of straight characters who does that.

For a gay guy, he treats his gay characters like crap. It's incredible that we in 2014 has a gay writer for a tv show, who treats his gay characters worse than they did 30 years ago.

Has anything remotely been applied towards Derek in his interactions with any and all of the other male characters on the show? Has he questioned desirability towards gay males and specifically Stiles?

Danny, from what I've seen in his past interactions with Stiles has never ever been remotely sexually drawn towards him.

It wasn not only that scene, he asked the same question to Scott, and there's the conversation with the bisexual girl. Davis hinted in a couple of interviews that Styles could be not straight.
There are two different things, one is Styles sexuality, wich in my opinion was hinted several time, and other very different, Sterek as couple, that's pure fanfiction. It was based in the chemistry between the actors, and Davis after knowing the fanbase teased in a good bunch of scenes, but there's nothing that indicate that Derek feels anything at all for Styles, in fact he treat him pretty bad most of the times.
To be honest, i wouldn't even mind if Styles sexuality wasn't addressed, what i find annoying is the queerbaiting, and the fact that they had an openly gay character who would be really easy to integrate in the main storyline and they refused to do it, making him a token gay character.
Hopefully Davis will do a better job with the new gay character, but being introduced as another character's best friend don't give me hope. They are basically the new Jackson/Danny.
At least now they seem to be aware that part of the fanbase is not exactly happy with some things, i don't think a head writer should think about what the fanbase want, but at least take them in mind to not alienate them on purpose

Has anything remotely been applied towards Derek in his interactions with any and all of the other male characters on the show? Has he questioned desirability towards gay males and specifically Stiles? No, he hasn't. He's been in 1 scene with Danny and nothing ever came up when he was in a scene with Ethan. The only thing that's come up with Derek and Stiles is how their relationship, since season 1, has evolved. In season 1, Derek would threaten Stiles or hurt him but in season 3, Derek lets Stiles comfort him and lets Stiles yell at him without it having any consequences. Derek also had a dream in season 3 that only involved Derek and Stiles... The problem with TW is that it doesn't explain a lot of things (like Danny disappearing...) so we don't get an explanation as to why Derek dreamt of Stiles or why Stiles labeled Derek's name on the king on his chessboard or how their relationship went from loathing each other to comforting each other. Uhm, I didn't find it to be sexual either... and it was a funny scene. That wasn't really my point with that scene... Doesn't it also play up the inane theory that straight men think that all gay men are going to find them attractive? It totally could be but I don't understand if that was Jeff Davis' purpose with Stiles. If Stiles is so straight and his "true love" is Lydia Martin (or Malia Tate now, apparently) why would it even matter? Why even include it in the show to begin with? Again, TW is written by a gay dude so I'm not sure what kind of statement he's trying to make...

I just had to post this quote from tvline.com's review of the last episode. So, true. I laughed then realized how sad it was. Although, I still haven't seen enough of Mason to like him or not, but I'm going to attempt not to get attached. He doesn't seem to be a character that they intend to keep around, based on what I've seen so far.

I agree. It wouldn't seem like Garrett and Violet will be around that much longer either, and even though Mason's Liam's bestie, that can't be all that ties him to the show. It's all that tied Danny to the show too with being Jackson's friend, and we know how that turned out for him.
And I can't tell if Brett's supposed to be gay too and if he'll return Mason's attraction, guess we'll have to wait and see. Brett did survive though, so they must intend for him to appear further.

I'm hoping that Brett will play a bigger part as well, it'd be interesting to see Mason with Brett while Brett and Liam still hate each other! Maybe he will jump from his pack to Scott's after the Benefactor has his way with Brett's pack (or something of that sort).

We haven't even seen Danny yet this season and none of the other characters mention him - ever. (Also one of the reasons I don't watch Teen Wolf anymore)

but gawwwddd...Ian Bohen is ridiculously hot.

The Teen Wolf Panel from SD comic con: At the point I marked someone asked about Danny. I'm not satisfied with the answer.
Highlight for the rest of my comments in case of spoilers: Okay, so he's coming back apparently. But where has he been. He is a member of the lacrosse team, so why wasn't he at any practice or the game? It just doesn't make sense. I wonder if there weren't any plans to bring him back, but the response from his disappearance changed Jeff Davis' mind. I don't know, it's just very odd.
