I expect it's due to the fact that Chandler fans would have been willing to cut Will some slack (and then some) when their favourite was in the role, but since Guy "kicked" him out of the role (from which Chandler had already announced his departure and been playing lazily and disrespectfully except for his Emmy reel), his Will "deserves" to have his every action viewed through an extremely negative lens. It is quite noticeable because Chandler's Will behaved like an A-Hole at times and he was rarely (if ever) called out on it, but since Guy took over the part, Will is constantly eviscerated online. Guy's Will is not that different from Chandler's ... he is still hopeless at being cut-throat, whether it was working for EJ or for the magazine. He's been as selfish as necessary to further both careers and still not gotten anywhere.

Yes I'm waiting to see just how Derick will be used. Guy and Freddie say he's the one who causes the drama but seriously if what Derick does is reveal that Will or Sonny slept with Paul than Derick really isn't to blame. If one of them didn't cheat there would be nothing to reveal. Going back to the Will and Paul rumor. Days has started a character assassination of Will ever since he started his tabloid writing. As selfish and uncaring as he has been portrayed at times sleeping with Paul would probably ruin him in most fans eyes for good. If Will and Sonny are still end game then Days has to redeem Will. Will could be redeemed by having to fight to keep from losing Sonny to Paul. Is Will cheats they might as well write off the character because he is not going to work as the gay male version of Sami.I don't think that would or should be the case at all. Especially if folks say that they would like the gay characters to be treated in the same way as the straight ones. Will should be able to be just as messy about his actions in his life, just the same as his mother Sami, both his grandmothers Kate and Marlena and his grandfathers Roman and John. Will and Sonny both should be allowed to do as many screwed up things as possible, be with other characters, move on with those characters and still, at the end of it all, still have a fanbase that wants them to be together forever together. Just because they also happen to be gay characters, shouldn't make them exempt from being written like their straight counterparts. Which may be one of the reasons why some viewers are having issues with this developing storyline and how messy both Sonny and Will are being portrayed right now. Sonny's rightfully angry, mad, not easily forgiving/understanding and being passive-aggressive about it all towards Will, his husband. Along with also having his ex boyfriend in town. The boyfriend, he also put his wants, feelings and needs before his own during their relationship. A relationship that Sonny chose to end. Will's confused, because Sonny's angry and mad at him and isn't fully open in wanting to hear his side of the story. Especially after he caught him lying about his return. Will really hasn't had to step up and truly be there for Sonny, his husband, because all the past drama in their life, has been based around Will's actions/behavior, with Sonny being at his side all the time. Never any moment of Sonny saying, "Why am I dealing with this crap?" There are still viewers that want Marlena to end up with John, as their HEA. We still had lots of viewers that wanted Sami to end up with EJ, as their HEA (even after ALL the trauma, deceit, cheating, lying, murder attempts and the death of EJ. We had Sami, crying and laying over EJ's dead body, professing never-ending love for him. Look: I rant and rail over the gay characters on Hollyoaks ALL the time, because they never EVER seem to learn from their mistakes. Yet, I rant and rail over the straight characters, because they ALSO don't seem to learn from their mistakes. ALL of those characters are messed up. None of them are treated with kid gloves.

He's been as selfish as necessary to further both careers and still not gotten anywhere. Agreed, which should make the reason why Will lied to Sonny about the real reason for his early return make sense (not understandable for Sonny and the audience to accept) for that character. Will continues to fail and flail at his attempts to establish a career for himself. He cannot seem to understand why things are going so wrong for him, but he wants to be a success. That's understandable. It's the way that he chooses to go about it, is what screws him up in the end. If Will ever gets the chance to fully embrace who he is, without feeling guilty, at fault or bad about it, I think that would be a turning point to how some of the audience needs to view him: as a role model. Just like how viewers wanted and needed Sami to embrace who she truly was, stop denying her needs/goals/wants and pursuing men (who she thought) would make others think better of her.

If Will is the new Sami, she was known for destroying her own happiness. Pushing to the point of exhaustion that she was the hurt party. No clue about what is to come, but a Paul/Will hook up wouldn't be out of the question. I could see them finding that they have something in common. Will had a hard time coming out and neither has had any real relationships except for Sonny. If Paul is still there, I don't see him as this plotting person. I can see him maybe wanting to come out, but when his mother shows up, he changes his mind. Sonny would never be with someone like that, but I could see Will willing to. Derrick might tell Sonny about Will/Paul meeting, but it can be explained by the article. This is obviously dragged out for months. If Sonny cheats, he wouldn't have a leg to stand on if he wants to keep Ari in his life. Sami cheated on many of her lovers, but none of them cheated on her. Rafe came close with Carrie, but it never amounted to anything. Finally, if Paul/Sonny we're going to sleep together, why would they show all the flashbacks. Wouldn't they save it for the shocking event when it happens? As I said, I have no clue, but those are just my thoughts on what I've read from everyone's comments. Actually, Sami has only cheated once, when she slept with EJ while married to Rafe in 2011. It was actually a big plot point for the character when it happened. Lots of people think she cheated on Lucas with EJ, but their marriage had been annulled and he told her to move on while he was in prison. Rafe came close to cheating with Carrie, but EJ JUST cheated on Sami with Abby. So totally untrue to say that Sami always cheats and never is cheated on.

Will could cheat on Sonny because it's in his blood. Marlena cheated on Roman with John, and Sami cheated on Rafe with EJ. Of course, the thread running through those was that the kids walked in on the parent cheating, but I suppose they can't wait for Ari to grow up, LOL. Anyway, I think Will telling Sami that Sonny would never cheat on him was the true anvil.

Yes, but it's worse now. In the past when Chandler was playing Will these things were done at a tolerable level but with Guy they have taken them to new heights that at times make Will unlikable. Why is it "worst now"? These are traits that should be "unlikabe" for the character to do, no matter which actor is in the role. I didn't mean because it's a different actor. I just meant the things Will does know are worse then the things he did back then. The things he's done lately are a lot more selfish acts.

If you believe what they were trying to sell with EJ/Sami, the rape was cheating since she wanted him from the moment she met him. I think the EJ /Abby stuff was out of character and part of why I stopped watching. My major point was that Sami always messed up when she had something good. Sneaking to get Austin, spying on Brandon, various things with Lucas. Most involved her lying, which is happening now with Will. As Wilson68 pointed out, I'm not watching. Maybe Sonny will be like EJ and cheat, even though he finally has what he fought so long and hard for. Once again it will be out of character and I'm sure messy. Let's hope Will doesn't set out to destroy Sonny like Sami did.

Let's hope Will doesn't set out to destroy Sonny like Sami did. I would hope that whatever happens, Will would remain civil to Sonny. If he was bitchy that would just reinforce that Paul is the better choice. Will loves Sonny, and I think he would set Sonny free if he felt that Sonny's heart was not completely his, and I think that is more honorable that a revenge plot. I actually would like to see Will break up with Sonny when he finds out that Sonny still has feelings for Paul and then go on to date someone else all while Sonny gets jealous coz he's stuck with closeted Paul( and I'm not convinced it will be sunshine and rainbows even if Paul comes out.) I don't want Will to be doormat. Many people have pointed out that Will needs Sonny more than Sonny needs Will because he has a lot of baggage. If Sonny is off being happy with Paul, I would hate if Will just faded away. Sami had Will since she was 18 years old and she's had a number of partners that were never put off by the fact that she had a kid. The same should hold true for Will. I wouldn't be able to take it if Will ended up like Hope in 2010 (addicted to sleeping pills), when Bo took up with Carly. I'm worried that if Will lost Sonny he would hit the booze like his dad because he would go back to being destructive ( or at least more destructive than he has been recently).

Well we are all speculating about what may happen but one things seems for sure. Based on this tweet from Freddie back in Aug things must really pick up mid to late Jan.
freddie smith @freddiemsmith 25 Aug 2014 If you all could see what is happening in Salem right now it would completely BLOW YOUR MINDS!!!!

I find things to like and dislike about the performances of Chandler, Guy, Freddie, and Christopher, but my likes almost always outnumber my dislikes, especially lately. I am just tired of so many discussions of Will's character becoming an opportunity to bash one actor or the other or one group of fans or the other. I have seen Chandler eviscerated online just as often as Guy, and I have no problem with criticizing an actor's performance (and I don't think the actors would have any objection to fair criticism either), but the personal insults to professionals doing a job and going beyond the call in reaching out to and responding to fans are uncalled for. And as someone who has watched soaps for thirty years, I can confidently say that both Chandler and Guy, even in their very worst performances, are a thousand times better actors than many of the wooden performers I have watched over the years (and indeed right now), so the extent of the criticism makes me laugh. As for Freddie's tweet: If mid-January will blow our minds, I can only wonder what's coming for February sweeps!

Yet, many viewers hated Rafe being with Sami (I compare it to the viterol that was created when Ste got with Doug), so that indiscretion of Sami isn't looked on as being this horrible thing, because it happened to Rafe. Yet, Rafe and Abby are (to this very day) vilified for almost having an affair. Which is why I want to see what the fallout will be IF Sonny actually does cheat on Will with Paul? How will the audience react to it (and not just WilSon fandom)?

To be quite honest, right now I would say that every excuse under the sun would be made for Sonny, but if Will had to cheat he would be irredeemable. I mean. Sonny kissed Paul twice (even if it wasn't active/conscious cheating) and yet on the web people are calling Will the only liar and saying that Sonny hasn't done anything wrong. It all depends on what you consider cheating, but if Rafe and Carrie were vilified for kiss, how can the same people say that Sonny hasn't cheated on Will yet? He should have at least stopped that second kiss by saying that he's married. I get that they wanted the first kiss to be a shocker and the second was to make sure they weren't talking when Anne and Theresa knocked on the door, but Sonny looks really bad because of that scene.

Because not everyone who's an EJami fan is a fan of WilSon and it makes more sense to me that some viewers would vilify Rafe and Carrie's behavior over what Sami and EJ had done to each other. That's usually what fandom does: place blame on everyone else other than the two characters that make up the OTP that they ship. Also, because folks want to see a storyline for Will and Sonny that isn't based on Will's past, Sami's life or the baby. I want to see messiness, without trying to figure out why messiness has to happen for the pairing.

I saw the lying about being the baby's father as selfish but it was a selfish act he made out of fear of losing Sonny. It was misguided but he thought he was doing the right thing. There's nothing right about his behavior in the last few shows before leaving for Hollywood and nothing right about his behavior while in Hollywood. And the lie about why he came back was for his benefit and no one else.

And the lie about why he came back was for his benefit and no one else. I don't really care about Will lying in the past because it was more complicated than Will just lying to keep Sonny. He may have said that's all it was, but there were hints onscreen that it was about more than that. Will not telling Sonny the truth about why he came back is relevant to the story now, and to be honest I don't see it as being such a big lie on the scale of lies, but Sonny is certainly entitled to feel hurt by it nonetheless. What I want to see is more of Paul. And I want to see Paul and Sonny in a relationship dynamic. It's coming across to me on Social Media that Will is this BIG liar, and Paul is some prince, so Sonny should drop LIAR Will to be with Paul (even though Sonny is lying by omission himself). If Paul is just some nice guy closeted athlete, I can accept that and maybe Sonny should go back to him since they would still be together but for the coming out issue. Then Will and Ari can move on with their lives. If Paul was so desperate to be with Sonny, he would be calling Will right now to use the article as a means to come out. He's telling Theresa that his ex is back in his life, so clearly he thinks there is still a chance whether Sonny is married or not. I'm interested to see what the audience response would be if Paul says he came out for Sonny, but it turns out he only did it because he was going to be outed anyway. I bet I'd see a double standard.

The problem with Will's cheating it will go far him being his selfish usual. Right now Will and Sonny have problems in their marriage, and Will is the main guilty of that problems. He basically treated Sonny like his doormat for a good while (Sonny has a tendency to react a little too late, he is not a punching bag, in all the senses of the word, like Ste on Hollyoaks, but he generally gives people a pass for too long, it happened when T treated him like crap too) so cheat on Sonny will be just the nail on the coffin.
Will cheating on Sonny with Paul it won't create confict but end all conflict, because if Sonny is on character (and that's a big if on soaps) he won't want nothing to do with Will or with Paul for that matters.
Paul is free right now, Sonny has no word if he is sleeping around or not (but it says a lot of his real interest on Sonny) but having sex with his husband is a big no. So i highly doubt Sonny wants nothing with Paul after that, and without Sonny being interested on Paul, the break up with Will only could bring up another boring reconciliation.
On the other hand if it's Sonny the one who cheat on Will the possibilities are a lot bigger. First Sonny would cheat on his husband with someone who has feelings for, and someone who loves him. Will will be angry, but if he is able to see his behaviour of the last months he will probably react and want his husband back, so you have an interesting triangle.
Of course there's a possibility of none of them cheating, because if Will outs Paul and Sonny knows it, there's a big probability of Sonny and Will being apart in the moment Paul and Sonny went together

There's no drama in him being outed if there are no stakes. I think it's that his grandfather has died, therefore bringing his mother to Salem. It could also be that teams have found out that he had surgery and no team wants him.

More spoilers for next week from DR: Will blasts Sonny for taking money out of their joint bank account to pay for more work on the club expansion. And Sonny's dreams are crushed.
I suppose either Will or Sonny could combine with a devastated Paul and do something they can't take back.
I wonder if Sonny could still get money from Paul if he turns him down when he confesses his feelings, LOL.
If Sonny loses the club or clubs, I would hope he starts working at Titan.

I can't believe they would make Sonny lose the club that fast. I thought it would drag on a while longer. I'm curious as to how much money Sonny takes from their account. I can't imagine they have the whole $200,000 socked away, although in Salem, who knows? I'm still confused as to why Sonny was willing to ask Victor for the money but then turned down Adrienne and Justin's offer in favor of this move. Is it that Victor would have had a stake in the business, while his parents would have just given it without strings, and therefore he'd feel like he was taking a handout? Or is it that he feels they already helped him when he first started the coffee house and he doesn't want to ask again? I really like Paul, and so I will wait to see exactly how his declaration to Sonny is phrased before judging him. But if he flat out declares the intention to break up Sonny's marriage, he will lose most of my sympathy. I wonder when and from whom he will finally find out that Sonny has a child and how he'll respond.

And why didn't Sonny just take the money from his Mom? He had no problem asking Victor for money.

Sonny is always on Will for keeping things from him but he does this without discussing it with Will. But I'm sure he will blame Will and say Will never had time to talk to him. And why didn't Sonny just take the money from his Mom? He had no problem asking Victor for money. He told explicitly to Will that he has problems and even said to him that he wanted Will to ask him for the problems. If Will is so self absorbed to not do it it's him problem. Sonny has a big part of responsability on how bad their marriage is going because he is a traveled guy, he should known better that Will was not even remotely ready to a marriage. They didn't even date for so long before the wedding (and they have a good bunch of problems during the dating phase). I just hope the show stop dumbing the characters and the situations to fit the plot. There's no way in hell Victor let Sonny go bankrupcy because he was fooled (and that was just a big out of character for Sonny not reading the contract) by a Dimera And about Paul, i hope the reasons for his devastation will be plausible, no team wating him for the operation is not plausible, profesional athletes are injured every year and if they recover there's no problem. Being the injury more serious than expected and threatening his career on the other hand will bring drama and the opportunity to stay in Salem. And Sonny knows what Paul feels for him, it's not like it's going to be a surprise confession
