Thanks! Well, that's a little something to do . Assuming the wedding happens. I'm curious what was up with Will's voice; it sounded very strained.

I remember him sounding like that at the Emmys at the end of April, and also in some videos from the fan event with Christopher, Freddie and Guy in May. That time period corresponds with what is now airing.

I rarely feel as angry about a show's decisions as I do about this. I'm so full of rage.

I'm not angry but I do feel let down as a fan of this show. They keep trying to reinvent themselves every few years only for their ideas to fail. I get that they need ratings and better storylines, but killing off a legacy character like Will is the wrong way to do it. I remember when Will was born and the drama that followed between Sami, Austin, Carrie, and Lucas. This just feels like being stabbed in the back as a long-term viewer.
Hopefully this is just a plot device for Chandler to return, but I really doubt it.

Unfortunately, I doubt Chandler will be returning...
What can I say!!?!? I feel that I have been betrayed. That this storyline that started years ago and got me so invested in has been trashed in the last couple of months and then just when it could have gone better they destroyed it completely!
I understand that characters die and yes, sometimes, it is for greater good of the show. But I don't see that here! If it was to get Sami to return they could have and contrived another reason! If it was to create an environment of mourning they could have done things a little differently! And if they wanted Will to go they could have written a quick redemptive storyline and had him reuniting with Sonny. Instead they have spent the last couple months making Will unlikable and destroying the Will and Sonny dynamic without filling it with anything else. It has been a slow death that I assumed had a reason.... but no... no reason.... it was just because they could! There was the introduction of Paul to give Will and Sonny a nice stir-up... but then that fizzled as well with the quick re-introduction of Derrick to tie up that loose end!
I don't know about anyone else but I definitely feel like this has been planned for a while and the choice to kill Will off is to clearly say that the Will/Sonny thing is just as dead.

Killing off Will is a mistake. At least at this point in time. Considering the writing over the last several months (almost a year now?) I don't trust that the writers can really do anything constructive with the situation.* If Sonny was still on screen and was with Paul (or leaning toward Paul), and if Sami was still on screen, then I might grudgingly think that the impact could be worth it. Yeah, Will is connected to a lot of the people on the show, but the ones that would be most impacted by his death are gone. Spoiler: I know they will be returning briefly, but this kind of impact should be explored by them for months; instead they'll be left to explore their grief offscreen. The show really can't milk the aftermath for long, and then we'll be left with one barely-there gay resident in Salem. Part of me wonders whether they had decided to write Will out this way before Freddie decided to leave, and they decided to go ahead with it anyway. Problem is they haven't done anything with Paul in the interim, either. So I can't give the writers any real credit for that. The show seems to be reaching for the past, trying to relive their "glory days." But that's the wrong direction, and those of us who have no connection to the past won't care to watch any more. I can only hope they'll actually give Paul his own story, and a new love interest, but I don't have high hopes. Such a waste. ETA: Just watched a clip. I forgot about Lucas. So there is one close relative who will stay on screen to deal with it. And Abi, too (especially once she realizes her fiancee is a murderous psychopath). * I had the same concerns with Edwin on GTST and Doug on Hollyoaks, and I think what they did with Lucas and (to a lesser extent Ste) proved me right. In the end I thought keeping them alive and exploring other stories would have been much more worthwhile.

I couldn't sleep a wink last night. The horror of Will seeing the life being choked out of him repeatedly flashed throughout my mind. It didn't help that I watched scenes at least 4 times over. I can't even yet appreciated how fantastically brilliant it all came together because right now, I feel nothing but hatred towards DH and JG!
How could they do this to a character that has brought so much attention to the show for the past 5 years? I know people here really love longtime characters like Marlena, John Hope, Bo etc but Will and Sonny are far more popular than them around the world. In fact, there has even been national media coverage of WilSon in countries that do not even air Days! And, let's not forget mention all the WilSon related fansites, YT, DM and Tumbler which have been practically ignoring the show as of late since the gay characters disappeared months ago. What a stupid, stupid, stupid decision!
Poor GW. As you all know, I've been very vocal about him being miscast as Will but I have to say that I feel absolutely terrible for Guy/Will right now. Even though he wasn't successful at it, Guy put a lot of effort into trying to do right by the character and to win over us fans of the former Will. He showed up to work everyday with a positive attitude despite the constant criticism...and look what his "reward" was. They didn't have to have his character murdered so gruesomely to the point that it would be ludicrous if Will turned up alive in Salem again ever.
I understand that the show wanted to shock the residents to the core by killing off someone popular, but why extremely pissed off a large part of your audience who were already feeling marginalized by the show? This feels like gasoline thrown on the fire! I said it from the beginning when the new writers announced their intentions that they are shooting themselves in the foot and I remain convinced of this. Sure things are going well now with the serial killer storyline and old favorites returning for the 50th but let's see what happens afterwards.

The WilSon pairing is done and I'm glad that the writers didn't stick some quick redemption storyline in, having Sonny forgiving Will, so that he could reunite with him in his European travels, especially not how that pairing and their marriage ended up being written and portrayed onscreen. A one-sided phone call, doesn't absolve everything, in my opinion.
I also don't quite understand the thinking by some of the audience that TPTB would try to bring back Chandler, in the role, if the show was so willing to "betray them", by killing off Will at the same time.
Yes, it's horrible that Will lost his life to Ben, but I don't think TPTB did it to betray the audience who grew to embrace that character and his relationship with his husband Sonny, his relationship with his daughter Ari and his relationships with his parents and grandparents.
DAYS and all of the different head writers and their teams, during the last 15 years have gotten rid off/killed off/brought back to life and then killed off again the character of Jack (husband to Jen, father to JJ and Abigail, half-brother to Steve/Patch and Adrienne and the half-uncle to their children). Those actions, to me show that TPTB grew tired of writing for that character. Which is what sticks in my mind for this situation for Will.

so sad how did Sami get there so fast wait till Katie finds out She said something about having talked to Will (after his call to Sonny) while she was in Chicago (hop, skip and jump to Salem). She also said something about a one year anniversary (EJ death??) bringing her back to Salem.

I'm procrastinating watching the last week's worth of clips . I watched through last Wednesday but not the last few days. It's hard to watch the grief sometimes. One thought from early last week is: Wow, Ben is depraved. He immediately tried to push the idea to Abi that Chad is responsible for Will's murder. Very shamelessly, too. Good grief. And I used to like Ben. I also know that I'm not alone in thinking that Will's final attempt to take responsibility was pretty feeble. In that voice mail message he said the same things he's been saying for weeks. Why were we (or Sonny) supposed to believe him this time? And yet that voice mail prompted him to want to come home now? Seems like par for the course with the writing over the last several months. Anyway... Rest in peace, Will Horton.
