Well, another prove that the books won't be useful to certain storylines. I don't remember that character, at least not in the first three books

I don't remember that character, at least not in the first three books No, the writers do change some parts of the stories from the books to make the tv-show. Personally I haven't read the books and I like that I don't know what will happen next. It's difficult not to hear of any spoilers though, but I try to avoid most of them. The 'Red Wedding' was one of the biggest surprises so far! I had heard of it but I didn't really know what would happen. It has been hilarious to see people react to that episode and that particular scene on Youtube!

It's curious because i heard about the red wedding way before reading the third book. In the third book, the red wedding happens at the same time that Joffrey wedding, and that's a wedding that nobody will forget too. Weddings in westeros are pretty dangerous

I believe it's Oberyn Martell who is rumored to be bisexual. I saw him in the previews and wondered how big of a role he will have in the 4th season. He is portrayed by Pedro Pascal

Well, in the books is pretty clear that Oberyn and his wife are both bisexual

To be fair, there's a good bunch of gay characters on the books (far more than in most mainstream fantasy novel where gays just don't exist), but are secondary characters or barely there characters

GoT prequel House of the Dragon premieres tomorrow. There may be some queer male content in the first season if they're faithful to, and expand on, the storylines in the books (which is what GoT did, making explicit what was implicit in the books). The casting of the relevant characters is definitely promising. Book spoilers obviously follow, so I'm going to place them behind spoiler tags. Laenor Valeryon, who will be played by John MacMillan as an adult and Theo Nate as a teen, is indicated to have no interest in women and has strong relationships with male "favorites". He ends up marrying his cousin (the female lead) and is the putative father of her three sons (her lover is suspected to be the biological father). Laenor has two male favorites: first Joffrey Lonmouth (Solly McLeod has been cast in the part) and then Qarl Correy (Arty Froushan). Joffrey is killed early on and Laenor later names his third son after him. Qarl replaces him in Laenor's affections. However, in true GoT style, Qarl ends up murdering Laenor, allegedly for money, and then disappears, never to be heard from again - although he is suspected to have been killed by his hirer.
Unfortunately, that seems to be the end of the queer male content, and looking at the casting it will probably wrap up within the first season, unless they add new gay characters. (They may opt instead to play up the queer female content, which seems to involve longer-running characters, in later seasons.)

Once again the lesbians get the storylines, meanwhile the gays get breadcumbs. It's not even worth watching. Just like Sandman... all about lesbians while the lone gay (male) character doesn't get a love interest. America has a problem with portraying gay men on tv.

Like their LGBTQ+ representation wasn't already problematic, they apparently made Matt Smith's character Prince Daemon bisexual, which wasn't in the book. But there's a catch: they show him flirting with a male attendant - but even that mild gayness from their leading man was deemed too much for the audience, so they consigned it to a deleted scene! www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/a41441955/house-of-dragon-daemon-bisexual-sex/

Wow. Hats off to the writers.
They get a lot of decisions wrong (the dreadful ending to original GOT) but the twist this episode was fab.
They changed it from books <3

Yes I was pleasantly surprised by that twist.
However it does mean that we've likely hit the end of our gay representation (such as it was). Of course, we still have Daemon - the covert bisexual *eye roll*. But it's probably safe to say that, since they deleted the one scene where he's shown having a sexual interest in another man, his bisexuality won't be explored onscreen.
